What does 15 years of PlayStation look like? Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has opened a brand new site celebrating the legacy of the PlayStation platform, featuring a timeline of Sony's major gaming hardware releases, beginning with the launch of the original Japanese PlayStation on December 3rd, 1994. Sony's handheld holds a majority of those dotted events, with every version of the PSP (from the 1000 to the Go) represented.
The "15" year logo is a fun potpourri of various accessories released throughout the brand's history. In addition to SingStar microphones and Buzz! controllers, you can see Sony playing homage to UMD, PocketStation and rubber ducks -- stars of the initial tech demos for both PS2 and PS3.

I probably devoted countless hours a day of my childhood to TM2 alone and I doubled those hours with TM:Black. Here's hoping for 15 more years of great HQ gaming.

I hated the Playstation when it came out. I don't know why really, I guess I just didn't like change. Also I was use to cartridge based systems.
All of that changed when I went over a friends house and played Tekken!

I remember owning a SNES, and a friend of mine just got a 3DO, I played on the 3DO and thought it was a bit of a let down. Another friend had a playstation imported from Japan - I hadn't even realized sony was planning on making a console, but I liked their HiFi stuff and they were very 'cool' at the time. Everything about it struck a chord with me - the controllers fit perfectly in your hand, the big power and eject buttons seemed to be 'fun' somehow and Toshinden's graphics blew me away. I also remember Ridge Racer from the arcade and was stunned that it was arcade perfect from a console the size of a big book! The ridiculous loading times just seemed to be a small price to play for this new total 3D world, previously only hinted at by mario kart and Virtua Racing. It was insanely expensive but one of the best consoles I have ever owned.

I was a strict Nintendo family when the Playstation came out. My mother was actually a gamer, and she had the original NES, SNES, and N64 when it came out. It wasn't until my 10th birthday in 2000 that I approached my mother about wanting a PlayStation for my birthday.
Around that time I also developed a deep-seeded hate for Tomb Raider.

Apollo,
Same here. Never owned a Sony console. I usually could afford only one console per generation so I had to pick wisely.
95 - Saturn (sigh, lost that gamble)
96 - N64 - meh
99 - Dreamcast - fantastic for a year or two, then sadness.
2001 - Xbox - "OK" at best.
2005 - 360 - great so far.
But at least one of my friends had a Sony console throughout the years so I guess it's a win/win for me :)

For some reason, all my memories of the original PSone revolve around driving games... Motor Toon Grand Prix, Destruction Derby, Twisted Metal, WipeOut, Need For Speed, Porsche Challenge, Moto Racer - the system had tons of 'em.
As well as that horrible Road Rash sequel.

So much screaming. So much blood. I never thought I'd get over it.

Ive only ever owned a PSP (The Phatty) but I have to give props to Sony for launching a new platform in a time when Sega and Nintendo had market dominance.

Okay, Sony you can go ahead and temporarily discount some of the GREAT PSN games instead of the mostly mediocre ones like you did for the Fall.

So many great memories with the PlayStation brand. I still remember the day I bought my PSX, freaking out when my Grandma was able to find a PS2 a few months after launch (they were basically impossible to find), camping out last year for the midnight launch of the MGS4 PS3 bundle, and when I finally bought a PSP earlier this year. Not to mention the countless hours I've spent with each!
It's sad to see that the PS3 has had some problems this gen (love it or hate it, you can't deny Sony's hit some bumps in the road), but here's hoping Sony gets things right from here on out :)

I remember that decision I made Xbox or PS2... I was in Jr. High and getting tired of playing kiddie games on the gamecube. Socom2 pushed me towards getting the PS2, best console I've ever owned. Better then SNES.

Thank you Sony for taking gaming to the next level, a more serious and adult one. Before PS1, I was happy with my nintendo stuff..sure, but I could never fathom where gaming could and did go until PS1 showed me with games like MGS 1 and FF 7.
If not for them, gaming would not have taken off and would still be looked at as a kiddie hobby by just about everyone because of what Nintendo was doing.

I remember the day my dad bought one home for me. I got Porsche Challange and Crash Bandicoot 2. Naughty Dog are still my favourite developer to this day so that speaks volumes. Highlights have been Ape Escape games, Uncharted games, SOTC and about another million more! Can't wait for the next fifteen years of incredible titles :)

I remember back in 1996 when my parents made me decide between the N64 or Playstation. I proudly choose playstation. I remember I would spend countless hours into collecting all the Gems in Crash Bandicoot and then there was GEX, which to this day is still a personal favorite. Then in 1997, my friend showed me FF7 and that changed my whole life and the lives of countless of my other friends. While I agree it isn't the BEST game in the world, but damn it I can't imagine how my life would be had I not forced my mother to spend $60 on that game when I was 8. Then my parents secretly bought the PS2 while I was away for that summer. My step-dad loves to play that thing, I have to replace the first one we bought. We've gone through atleast 3 different PS2 and I still have my original one. Then the first time I worked ever when I was 16 I spent all my earnings on the PSP which I still own today and use everyday. Last year I got a full time job and bought my PS3. Good times Sony.
