The city of Montreal can add another gaming studio to its ranks, as THQ has announced plans for its biggest studio yet: THQ Montreal. The new development house will focus on "creating core games for THQ" and assisting with titles developed by the company's other studios worldwide. THQ Montreal is expected to create some 400 new jobs in the Quebec province, with THQ's Paradigm Entertainment head, Dave Gatchel, overseeing operations when the studio opens in mid-2010.
THQ VP Steve DeCosta says it's not just the tax breaks that make Montreal such an appealing place to set up shop, but also the talent pool in the region -- sentiments shared by neighboring Ontario minister Sandra Pupatello.

terrorist? REALLY? but yes it isn't only because we are fucking awesome, it's also because the our government recognizes the importance of the gaming industry and the jobs that go with it, thus providing the necessary tax incentives to secure new offices! It's also because we are fucking fantastic and they like to party with us and drink are awesome beer.

Why are they terrorists?
Canada was offering big tax credits in an attempt to attract more 'tech' jobs. It's one of the reasons for Ubisoft Montreal.

How many major publishers have studios in Montreal now? Even if its only Ubisoft, EA, and THQ, that's a pretty damn impressive number. Its always nice to hear about studio openings.

Szayel Aporro Grantz is very much right,
I can see the board room now-
Suit 1 "OK guys where do you want to take the new division? New York?, Miami?"
Suit 2" How about Montreal?"
Suit 1 " Montreal?"
Suit 2 "yeah, the love to party, and they have crazy hot women"
Suit 1 "I'll be in Montreal"
Montreal is one of the most beautiful cities in Canada, everything is in walking distance, greater nightlife, perfect women (for the most part) and great attitude.
I get out to Montreal at least once a year.
good luck THQ

Ranch and pizza fries, huh?
Doesn't sound too bad. I'll still prefer fried green beans with ranch, though. =P

I've thought about moving to Canada.
But I still love my America. For now.
The Motherland is always calling, though.

Actually I'm sorry Ghen (I'm not being sarcastic), I probably shouldn't be so harsh on Joystiq.
It's just pissing me off that he's getting downvoted simply for for posting. If there was a good reason behind it I would understand but this is just unacceptable.

The downvotes have mostly stopped (the anti-people made themselves just look like jackasses) Don't worry about it too much.
Though I do have to wonder if all these 'I hate Darth' people are the same person. They all have similar habits.

Good for them and all but I don't think I have played a THQ title for a long time, nor do I plan on playing one anytime soon. I know DoW is good but I'm a console person, and none of their games really stand out to me.

So the U.S. is allowed to give incentives for businesses to open up, but Canada isn't?
