Let's see, there's the human race, the nomadic warrior race, the mystical forest people race, the big ugly race, and the miniature race. Looks like all the MMORPG archetypes are covered! Fine, there's a bit more lore contained within the above trailer for Guild Wars 2, which explains all the motivations and backstories for each of the game's five races. Still, who cares about that stuff? Where's all the loot?
For a comprehensive breakdown of the trailer's plot elements, and some speculation on how the story of the sequel will unfold, we suggest checking out our sister site, Massively. This kind of thing is right in their wheelhouse.

Griffin you have no idea what Guild Wars is about if you are asking for loot. GW was never about loot and I hope, neither is GW2. Also, FYI, none of these races are nomadic.

Norn are semi-nomadic. They have outposts, and towns, but spend a lot of time wandering around alone killing things, and turning into bears.

Excited doesn't describe it. I had to change my pants after watching that trailer, and then having donned fresh pants at the screen again, and had to change pants AGAIN. This game isn't even out, and it already has a claim on unfathomable hours of my life. Goodbye social life, hello Tyria.

I know it must look pretty generic, and it kind of is. Obviously, GW2 is a different game, but if you look at the first one, you'll find that the game has fantastic art design throughout, a tight game mechanic, and lots of content to keep you busy for a long time.
Compared to other MMO's like WoW, GW1 was a lot more focused on having you actually do stuff and less on MANDATORY timesinks. Oh, and no monthly subscription.
Of course it had problems, like an ineffective chat/social UI.. Some atrocious (but comical) cut-scenes... But even if those problems are still there in the sequel, if it retains GW1's other qualities, I'd gobble it up. Its pros outweighed the cons.

Guild Wars 2 or Dragon Age: Origins? The Title art could be either.

Oh man... This is /really/ bad.
If this game is any good, the trailer sure doesn't give it justice.

What's wrong with it?
The only complaints I've been hearing from people online are:
1) the voice acting - but people bitch about voice acting in all games
2) the dialog - yeah, it is a little cheesey, but I don't think that's the point of the trailer
3) LOL UNORIGINAL! - trolls

Nice job scoring the trailer. Who is composing the music for GW2?

@TKo - Jeremy Soule did the music, as he did with the first Guild Wars. It looks pretty good to me. The content here does look a little generic but I've always found Guild Wars to be a little more 'special' than most games. Plus it completely removes te whole grinding and boring tasks thing from MMOs which i hope they continue. To me it seems more like an action/fantasy/adventure game that is online, and I like that. I look forward to release, and to getting the box, and smelling the manual.

Wow this looks completely different (and significantly more ridiculous) from the first one. Looks like I should try and pick up the first one again instead of waiting for potential crap.

Well, maybe it has something to do with the annoyingly formulaic approach to introducing the races with the tropes of prototypical "I am strong and stupid and spirited!" character juxtaposed with "Here's something profound, maybe the 'Brains over brawn' idea is actually true in a universe with FUCKING MAGIC AND GIGANTIC STEAMPUNK WAR MACHINES" character and the "Grah we're powerful and like fire" character. How about just add in a fire level and a water level and have players form parties to collect all 200 bananas!
I can't even begin to state all of my frustrations with this video. Though one of them is certainly the fact that nobody else sees them.

change the title to "Guild Wars: Origins"
and not because of dragon age. more because of how suiting the new title would be

If any of you guys who are whining knew how mindblowingly awesomely fun GW's combat is, you would not care that the story is a little cheezey. Guild Wars is not and has never been about delivering a movie quality story. However, the first game barely managed to convey any story at all, so this "overzealous" approach is a step up. The real reason I played GW and will play GW2 is because no MMO has given me the same kind of fun combat, and it looks like the combat has gotten better effects, at least, from what I saw in the trailer. If this was a commercial for a movie, I would hate it. Since it's a commercial for an MMO, I recognize that most MMO trailers suck quite a lot harder. And It's cool to see the new graphics.
