Getting Square Enix to localize a game for you.. how could that possibly go wrong? They have such an amazing track record. I just don't understand.

Now they know how it feels to receive a game with poor voice acting, subtitles, etc....

They have piss-poor translations in their cities for tourists.

Still, they deserve a well translated game like anyone else. Their right to bitch about it.

Or they can do what we did and make it a meme or just a joke in gaming culture...

I wonder if MW2 would be translated to Brazilian Portuguese...and if the translation would still sound a mixed up portuguese/spanish crap.

Osakuru Mikuru

While I pulled that out of my ass, it's probably gonna be something along those lines of being just the same structure integrated into their syllabic language.

For some reason "Osakuru Mikuru" reminds me of the Iron Chef announcer on a Futurama episode.

"Time-u, UPPARU!" (Times up!)

I wonder how this game will go over in a year's time.

Back when BF2 was the big thing, I remember a decent amount of Japanese players. I'm sure there are players over there for this game.

Still, if the translations are bad for them, then I guess it can ruin the experience, especially since this game apparently makes no sense unless you listen to the briefings (although, the Japanese must be used to mind fucks).

I would like to try my hand at a few Japanese players. The lag might get in the way, but it's nice to get people who aren't wining about the "camper pussies" and "n00b t00bers."

Actually, I wanna hear what that bitching sounds like in Japanese.

Personally, I feel like the "No Russian" scene was gratuitous. It felt deliberately shocking with no real emotional or moral weight. Could the mission not have had you arm bombs in an airport? Walk through a crowd and onto the airplane with a bomb? (Much like the scene in MW1 where you had to stealthily sneak through the tall grass around a group of marching soldiers and tanks.) Could they not have invested the innocents with a little heft, for example, a small handful abducted and pleading, where you see a face and not just some random mass of poorly-animated people.

But no, it's much easier, much more shocking, to go their route. I guess we'll have to wait a bit before a game makes terrorism appropriately terrifying, and not just an excuse to shockingly pad out some gun and military porn.

I thought it would do better, all they had to do was basically copy this video:

This 'poor translation' issue has got me worried...

Did they or did they not translate Oscar Mike to Shinichi Daisuke?

I don't agree with any censoring, but making it game over when a civilian is killed seems to make more sense. It wasn't part of the mission to kill them, you can do it without killing. That part of the game, along with many other parts, seemed like the developers were trying to hard to make the game dramatic.

Question is, how the heck did they get a Ranger rookie undercover with the russian terrorists when he couldn't speak a lick of Russian? Also, no wonder his cover got blown.

Additionally, how the heck did the Russians found out that the body Makarov left behind was an American? Did he accidentally take his american passport and CIA ID with him?

Also, didn't they have security cameras in that airport? Couldn't they tell that the massacre was NOT a work of a single man?

Also, in that cutscene that shows Russians building a statue to Zakhaev, why the heck is there a Soviet Coat of Arms on there? Especially when the sign says "Hero of New Russia?"

MW2 is a glorified shooting gallery, nothing more.

We at Infinity Ward find your comments disturbing. There is nothing wrong with the continuity problems in our story and wish to remind you that killing Russians is fun, mindless fun. Any attempt to justify our writers 8 hours of work on the script is a waste of time, better spent killing Russians. Thank you, and if you have any problems then buy another COD game.

P.S.- No Russian

MW2 would sell better in Japan if they add girls and interactive h-scenes.
