where did you get stealth from? sure it has stealth elements but i'm fairly certain "Saboteur" translates in Merican to "Blow shit up."

Everything I had read about it mentioned stealth a lot. In fact, even in the review it mentions the mechanic of using enemy uniforms to sneak around, and the Boobs DLC mentions extra hiding places.

I think I'll skip this one since I have an enormous backlog full of AAA games. Sigh.

The whole liberation mechanic reminds me a lot of Red Faction: Guerrilla, with their whole EDF vs Rebellion morale system.

I might be mixing up my history, but isn't it a bit weird to have an IRISH protagonist in an anti-war game? I seem to remember that the irish were mostly supportive of the nazi's because they were anti-british. U-boats refueling in the irish republic, etc..

Of course, they didn't know the full horror at that point, but it still strikes me as a slightly odd choice. Maybe there were also other irish fighting against the Nazis?

Game sounds fun. I can usually overlook any minor flaws if there's fun to be had. Sounds a little like mafia-lite though.

I have a feeling that from now on no game can be release that has realistic-speed climbing. They'd better be running up walls like crazy ferrets!!

Game of the year. Took me 20 hours to beat, probably could be done in 10.

Still playing the game, tons of Nazi's to kill.

Better than Ass Creed 2, COD:MW2, Gay Tony & lots of racing games.

Ive put hours into those games, this game is amazing, not sure what copy the reviewer got, but I;m not sure he really played the game. Gunplay is brilliant, the cover technique is non-sticky and so playable. Brawling is fun, driving is realistic and brilliant. Climbing buildings is easy.

What kind of complaint is:
"...saboteur is able to scale most buildings in the game, though the climbing (which requires you to pound the "A" or "X" button as you gradually make your way up a building) feels archaic in the era of Assassin's Creed's fluid parkour."
Wow, pressing buttons is hard for you? You press X 5 times and your up most buildings and it feels better than AC, you can plot easily which direction you are going up the buildings also if you look around you can climb the eavestrough straight up a building in a few seconds.

It is a truly unique experience driving around re-created WWII Paris in first person mode with the jazz blaring out the radio and Nazi's chasing you down like theres no tomorrow. The contrast between the color and black & white parts are amazing, its cool how as you fight you get more color and less citizens are killed.

Some parts of the world are so deep, one time I was just walking around the city and I saw a few germans with 5 or 6 frenchmen lined up against the wall, and the Germans are reading fake charges saying they are apart of the resistance and then they start machine gunning the men down and everyones screaming. This has nothing to do with a mission or anything, just some of ambient background action going around this world, its Schindler's list shit kids, pretty dark at times.

Its like Hitman, AC & GTA mixed in together, totally open sand-box, approach each mission any way you want to - snipe everyone, plant 16 remote explosives and take out a whole base, sneak around and stealth kill everyone - whatever it takes you can do anything you like.

I thought this was a lopsided review. I personally got bored with AC 2 in a few days and I thought Modern Warfare 2 was pretty terrible. The Saboteur rocks and has my vote as game of the year.

Thanks for re-raising my hopes for this game, as I am sure I will like it. I just got a 20.00 Best Buy GC from work so It'll be 40.00 out of pocket for me on this game. Picking it up for sure.

I'm interested in the Saboteur and its style, but damnit, Mercs2 was a profoundly disappointing game. It was such a staggering drop in quality from the first one and just difficult to enjoy playing. Difficult to trust Pandemic after that, coupled with their shuttering.
The Saboteur reviews all refer to the same issues, which was the same experience I had with Mercs2: hoping my affection for the IP would carry me through, despite the surrounding negativity. Here's a game that should've hit the shelves marked down by $10 or $20. At that price point, I'd be more willing to risk my dollars.

I was in the same boat. Mercs 1 was amazing, best xbox game by far.

Mercs 2 was total shit, I bought and sold it a few days later, totally disappointed.

The Saboteur goes back to the Mercs 1 roots, the only gripe I have with the saboteur game is there is no flying or parachuting.

Forgot to mention the amazing job the environment team did on recreating 1940's Paris, not your typical repeating patterns, every area had a distinct architectural style that was amazingly detailed, from the Eiffel Tower to the seaside town of Le Havre. I probably only visited about 70% of the map, I'm sure there were many little treats to be found there.
