Uh, I had this happen with AC1. There was just no 'push button' message to select the Animus after I loaded my saved game one time on the 360 version. It went away when I restarted the game, but they might be related.

Ah, yes aside from the technical details. I guess this is one of the reasons why I failed to finish the glyphe guide quest for AC II. LOL

For those who still can't finish it: http://tiny.cc/glyphguide

But to an addict gamer, I'm sure he/she didn't notice that glitch at all :D

Well Ive done this myself at the exact pint mentioned and it worked fine (Im on the PS3). It seems every game HAS to have a glitch now. Even if the glitch is made up.

Well, yes, every game has to have a glitch. In fact, every piece of software that's ever been made has been shipped with bugs. It's impossible to find (let alone fix) every bug, as it would require infinite time and resources.

I have a bug that I've been trying to research for AC2. I have 2 trophies that haven't unlocked, Chapter 5 trophy hasn't unlocked, even though I've completed the whole game as well as one of the Assassin's Tomb trophies even though I have all of the tombs and have the armor.

I have 3 trophies (besides those) that I need to unlock to get my Platinum so I need to get these unlocked...I'll probably have to replay the freaking game over to get them to unlock.

This is kinda thing is becoming a trend these days. A game breaking glitch that should have been caught during Q/A. WTF is the extra 10 dollars we pay per game for?

The extra 10 bucks is to pay for the downloadable content they have to create and put on the disk but not unlock.

There is always the possibility that the bug was found but had a low reproduction rate. Typically bugs like that are found late in the testing cycle are dismissed by the devs and not the testers. Now occasionally this dismissed bug is found by the public, but if it isn't more than a 25% reproduction rate, the chances of fixing the issue is slim.

I hate to say it, but situations like that happen more often than you think. What I'm trying to say is that it is not always QA that is at fault.

most QA sessions involve playing the game trying to break it, not seeing if turning the game off at random intervals makes something weird happen.

So any time anyone ever says "QA didn't do their job" clearly has never worked or known anyone in QA because then you would know that every single game ever released has shipped with bugs. Every. Single. One.

You can't catch them all. You can catch a lot. You can catch almost all of them. But the bigger and more complex your game is, more exponential the possibility for bugs become. And if you are bound by a contract to deliver by a certain date... It is even more likely you're going to ship with more bugs. Especially if the development team is sweating and crunching like a motherfucker to meet beta or submission.

I'm not saying people shouldn't be upset if their game gets crushed by a playthru stopper, but I am saying people need to have some perspective. First of all, this is being blown up by the media as being more than it is. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but it is entirely possible that the reproduction steps required to reproduce this bug are really obscure and was missed by QA because it was so obscure.

Secondly, it's pretty shitty to try and slam the developer or their QA department (and it might not even be the developer's QA, it's likely the publisher's) because a bug made it into the wild. The grounds on which dictate how severe a bug is are pretty subjective to how badly it effects gameplay and how easy or difficult it is to reproduce. If you have a bug that is a show stopper but is only reproduced one in a million times, it does not mean that QA ([or insert blame to someone else here]) didn't do their job. It doesn't mean that the game is just one big steaming pile of shit that will stop you from playing it so you might as well not buy it or play it.

In all reality, people love to hate. Especially on the internet where there is a shroud of anonymity to hide behind as well as a very real potential for other voices in the crowd to blend in with.

For every one person who finds a crippling bug and is vocal about it, there are nine hundred and ninety nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine people who weren't vocal about not finding it.

Sorry, the "WHY COULDN'T QA DO THEIR JOB" thing is a pet peeve of mine. It's an argument really rooted in ignorance.

Now it's impossible to catch 'em all!

Slust... save that "poor multi-million dollar corp" bullshit for someone who cares. You could right a novel and you'd still be wrong. The amount of 'glitches' found is games these days would never be acceptable for any other product sold to the public and defects that are widespread like game ending glitches would have a company recall and make a public apology. You know what the difference is? Bleeding heart corp cheerleaders that excuse every corner cutting, under handed bullshit these companies pull. All they had to do was play through the entire game, because that is exactly what happens... Some one plays the game and the glitch is found. How fucking hard is that? Its not like the persons were doing something they weren't suppose to.

What your prob is, you don't mind rolling over and getting your face stomped on. Which is fine, but don't preach to me about how I should just get use to it. 60 dollars for a game that is a GAMBLE just to find out I can't finish it, because its broken? And if you don't have internet then you're fucked. So pretty please, with sugar on top, piss off.

When i first heard that a new Prince of Persia was headed to stores in line with the release date of the movie, i sighed. Not because Ubi was making another Prince game to cash in, but because i knew the time they were allocating to the game was simply not enough for this developer. Every single one of their games has glitches, even back in the PS2 days. It used to really anger me, then i stopped purchasing their games.

Hey, its not as bad as Bionic Commando's Back-ass-wards design.

You can replay a mission, but doing so disables achievements, so there isn't a reason to go back to the level in the first place. And if you die, you lose everything you grabbed, collectibles, challenges, all of it, so you'll have to grab them all over again.

So far, the only thing "game-breaking" is the jumping in the game, sure if you need to hop onto the broad side of a barn the game will let you, but the second its narrower than half a barn your guy suddenly forgets everything. Not to mention the few times I failed the running assassinations in the Assassin Tombs because Ezio decided to "bounce" off the guy instead of stabbing him...

The consumer needs to cease buying on release dates and wait a month or two for critical bugs to be fixed before purchase. This is the only way to change the practice of releasing buggy untested software that would not be acceptable several years back on a console.

If we keep up this pace we will go the way of PCs and have 32 bug versions to update before ever getting to complete a game.

I find it odd that more games come glitched lately, especially from Ubi. :/

Wow. I was just playing AC2 and ran into a similar problem. At sequence 8, in Venice, I was running around at the top of a roof, I alerted a guard so I jumped into the water. When I got out of the water, the little arrow that indicates the guards suspicion of you lingered at about half way for at least 20 minutes. No matter how far away I got, it was stuck at the same amount and was always in front of me.Then I alerted another roof top guard, and he pushed me off the roof. As Ezio was trying to grab something, he sunk into the side of the building, then appeared in the waterway below him. So I swam around some, and then the music stopped, 10 seconds later the whole game froze.
I restarted the system and everything was fine. I was using a PS3.
Did anyone else have a similar experience?

Heck, I've had all kinds of silly, similar stuff. I had a red target marker stuck on my GPS for like 5 missions, I've been stuck inside a boat, I've fallen inside a tower, and I saw a shiny alien lady show up out of nowhere... oh wait.

This is nothing new, this -exact- same glitch halted my AC1 game after the 4th memory block. Inoperable doors, no one to talk to, etc. It wouldn't be an issue if, y'know, the game didn't feature a single autosave. Games without a real save system should be drug out and shot.

Quitting the game as Desmond is more dangerous than either of his ancestors.
