On a trip to South America to meet in-laws I was able to finally beat Final Fantasy 1 on my Gameboy Advanced. I can die a happy man now. Going again this year, so this prize would be perfect, hehe.

ok so I was driving to philly with a friend to hang with our families for christmas. When we stopped into Jersey, I had to charge my PSP so we went into a restaurant and I plugged it in at a table while waiting for our order. The waiter comes up and the first thing he mentions is the PSP. I'm like yea.. and btw I'd like a burger. Thanks bud. So he left kinda annoyed. I went to use the bathroom and when I came back our burgers were there... well my friend's burger was there.. but instead of a burger my PSP was in between the bread. I exploded!! I was like WTF in a blind rage. Turned out it was my friend who did it.

When I was a kid and flying home from Eastern Washington to home, my plane was delayed over and over because of snow, and the little airport just shut down. I spent hours multiple times at that airport, reading gaming magazines, which really helped pass the time. When I finally made it home, I took a little plane that I thought was going to just break apart mid flight, it was so noisy. Eesh.

I can only think of one thing. During a 28-hour bus ride, listening to Dream Theatre (hey, I was only 19 or so), I experienced what I can only describe as exhaustion-induced hallucination. It was just a few strange images, and it only lasted a couple of minutes, but it felt like a video game!

I think 358/2 would be quite appropriate!

I remember playing Pokemon on the long drives upstate with my brother, and the fights that would ensue as a result of him losing. Ah, fun fun.

I played Animal Crossing on the DS for the entire plane trip to France - which is like 11 hours. I made some strangers start their own houses too - I haven't played in such a long time, but I forget how charming that little package is.
Animal Crossing has a bizarre drawing power - and I think it operates on such a visceral level that it's hard for people to not find themselves invested.

I believe it was Christmas of either 94' or 95' and my family made it's annual trek north to the family party. I played Wario Land for gameboy for the entire ride and then despite my parent's protests I brought it inside and played through the whole party. Merry Christmas!

I travelled to Chicago for Christmas, took forever to get my luggage at Ohare airport, took a taxi to my father-in-laws. It did not bother me because he was loaning us his car to use for the week. Unfortunately, he left said car under a pile of snow for two weeks, and the battery was dead. I had to shovel the car out of the snow, it took an hour, and then I had to pay to get it jumped. That took 2 hours of waiting for the tow truck to show up. It was 9 degrees out and I am from Louisiana where the winter is maybe 35 to 40 degrees. Meanwhile my father-in-law and my wife went Christmas shopping without me.

One time, me and several friends were on a school trip. Since there were so few of us, we ended up going by car. Since the teacher taking us didn't want to drive his own car, he ended up renting one. Anyway, when we were on some very choice mountain roads me and my friends managed to get him to go over 100mph. That was fun.

Living on the coast of California, we don't see much snow, but a couple years ago while making my way into the california valley to visit the GF and her family, i ran into a bunch of snow in the Cuyama valley. I had to get out and take pictures and play a bit in the snow. Being California, it was warm enough to just stand around in a t-shirt, but snowing. Excellent.

Though it's not a gaming system, my netbook, that costs way less than a DS or a PSP-3000/PSP Go, was perfect for hulu.com and Plants vs. Zombie! Interesting enough that it can actually do Guild Wars if I lower all settings; same situation with SW:KOTOR.

Got my netbook from Black Friday deals!

Best video game travel story would have to be playing Mario Kart DS with three random people on a long bus ride once. I didn't even know who they were or where they were sitting, but somehow we all ended up in pictochat at the same time (apparently I'm not the only person who checks it after getting on a bus...>_>) and decided that Mario Kart was the game to play.
