Leaving my DS in a hotel room the first day of a trip and not having anything else to do at night since I didn't plan on bringing anything else since I'd be gaming. That was awesome.

Hm probably when I rode the Amtrak to my sisters house for the summer, I had my ds and went into pictochat and found like 3 other people in there... and I was like "Are you guys on this train!?" and sure enough I got to meet them in person :)

Best was the year we had to rescue my Brother-in-law. He was driving from Indy to NJ, and his dog got sick in the car. He got lost, called from a truck stop on a highway we couldn't identify. The truckers had competing ideas of which wasy he should go to a main road, while we were offering to find him and drive with him.
Dinner was late.

Well now, I'm in quite a pickle, don't really have much of a story I can tell...

Guess the best one would be when I got Pokemon Blue and Red as an early Christmas present, and ended up playing that game all the time, especially when I was forced to go somewhere, k-marts, targets, doctor appointments, and visiting some family in Ohio.

Hm, well, I can't remember any holiday traveling, but I did have my first handheld system, the yellow & blue GBC packaged with Pokémon Yellow Version, during vacation (or some drive). I remember being in Mt. Moon, having chosen my fossil (dome, all the way!) and run into Team Rocket for the first time. We had to get out around that point, IIRC. Anyway, just one of those things that's stuck with me.

Tangentially, it's a shame Versus Books fell through. Damn good Pokémon guides, even with the occasional typos or screwups.

Not my travel story, but my Freshman year of high school, I asked a teacher that was going to NYC for the holidays if she could pick up a copy of Pokemon Box for GameCube from the Pokemon Center there (Before it got turned into Nintendo World). When she got back, she had gotten the copy of Pokemon Box, and I paid her for it.

Even though that teacher was a terrible teacher, she's awesome for getting me that copy of Pokemon Box.

Christmas one year, where I was bored on a car ride up to my mom's boyfriend's house (about 3 hours away). Had my Gameboy Advance SP, with Golden Sun 1 loaded in it, and plunked away at it until we arrived. I had actually taken my PS2 and Digital Devil Saga 2 up there with me, so I could play it on a small TV Christmas Eve, since we were staying the night.

First, I have extreme luck with games when I travel, so I was finally able to beat the final boss in the game (who I had been stuck on for about a month).

Then, Christmas day, I open my presents, and lo and behold, a brand new, shiny, recently released PSP-1000 (the first model), with Untold Legends 1, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (movie). I was so excited.

Watched the movie later that day, and when we drove back home the next day, I was playing Untold Legends the whole way.

I was on an airplane on my way to Panama. I was bored as heck and all i had was a laptop with no internet, and a DS. After a while of boredom i got up for drink and noticed a kid down my row that had a DS as well. Luckily he also had the same game as me and was a real cool kid, i got off that plane with more shinies than i knew what to do with. Lucky day for me, seeing as i had barely gotten the game.

My best travel story that is video game related was dated a few years back when I visited the Nintendo Store in NYC. Not only it was my first time there, it was also the day Miyamoto-san flown in due to some kind of special event! Of course I tried to get him to sign my DS, but was pushed away by the crazy crowd there. Nevertheless, it was awesome to see Mr. Miyamoto in person. :)

Every Christmas Eve my parents host a party where our ENTIRE family comes over. I'm talking about immediate and extended family. Needless to say, the house gets crowded really quickly. So as a defense mechanism, my cousins, brother, and I would retreat to the television room when we were kids. We would then watch watch nothing but this tape of Christmas specials and play Super Mario Bros. 3. Now that we're older, we stay with the family and intermingle. It's fun, but I still have a kind of vauge longing for the time when the kids had their own little club....

The only time my family has traveled over the holidays (over than drives back and forth from college, which were before holidays and pretty uneventful) was when I was 7 and we went to Florida for Christmas vacation. It was a fun trip with highs and lows, but at my age, I was just really happy to visit Walt Disney World for the first time. Also, very happy to escape the snow and cold of the Midwest for the warm weather of Florida.

Probably when I flew to the other end of the country to visit my mom, brother and friends down there, after Rock Band came out. I have a Guitar Hero II guitar carrying bag that holds two guitar controllers, though my Rock Band controller sticks out the end slightly, and I checked the box in which the drums originally came, in the full band kit.

There was much playing after the two hour flight and three hour drive from the Memphis airport.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize what a colossal pain in the ass it was to put movies on a PSP.
