There's a good reason why we never went into late-night comedy: We really didn't want to compete against lanky comic genius Conan O' Brien. We thought writing about (and, more often than not, making fun of) video games would be a career path where we'd never have to compete with the gargantuan Irish host -- unfortunately, in a recent episode of Late Night, Conan managed to encroach on our territory, making a joke at the expense of the recently released (and tepidly received) Avatar: The Game.
Check out the video of Conan's gag after the jump while we consider another career choice -- one that will definitely be devoid of Conan competition. (We're thinking about horse whispering. Seems pretty safe, right?)

I disagree completely. I think The Tonight Show ran Conan O'Brien into the ground. The Tonight Show is still staffed mostly by Leno's old writers, and they're bloody awful.

^ The Tonight Show is staffed by most of Conan's old Late Night crew members. Jay Leno's staffers stayed with him; he still has a talk show just in case you're living under a cave.
Over all the show didn't really change from Late Night, which is great. I'm glad Andy is back. The only thing that I didn't like was when they retired the "inappropriate for 10:30 pm" characters Masturbating Bear and Cloppy. But I have a feeling that they will have them back since Triumph is more lowbrow and inappropriate than those two.

Yeah, Brian McCann still makes frequent appearances whenever they need a creepy dude in a skit.
I kinda hate that new black guy they got that turns every skit into a minstrel show, though.

You know, I loved Johnny Carson, and I liked Jay Leno...but O'Brien is running The Tonight Show into the ground.

Fine.
Johnny Carson was a classic host, which explains why he lasted so long. Leno was funny, and had the deadpan delivery down right. O'Brien looks like he's constantly trying to keep from shitting his pants over how badly he's killing the show. I don't think anyone at NBC has a brain in their damn heads anymore. Take Leno off his primetime show and put him back behind the desk where he belongs.
Long enough for you?

Leno has gone down in recent years, yes. He started out fine, though.
But even a watered down Leno is better than any degree of Conan.

Now you'll have to ban him from the gaming community by posting a youtube video in response...
Which would then lead to him banning you from the media community on national television for kicks and giggles...
Which would then lead to Reggie Fils-Aime sending a video clip to Conan telling him that he needs to stop and make peace with the gaming community.

I just noticed that Joystiq used the 'tepidly received' quote again, like they did for Brutal Legend which further cements my belief that reviews scores go like this:
1-7: mediocre
8:GOTY
9:Overrated
10: The reviewer is owned by MS/Sony

There's always one, are you person that says "well my aunt has smoked 40 a day for 90 years and she's fine" whenever someone says smoking kills?

No it's:
0-6: Shit.
7: Still shit but they bought advertising with the reviewer.
8: Normal game.
9: Over hyped AAA title that would get a load of nerd rage if rated any lower despite said nerds never playing it.
10: They sent the reviewer a load of cool crap.

It's actually a really cool game... seriously. Just try it. It's got destructible objects and self-balancing characters. It's also got one of the coolest game menus that I've ever seen.
Easter Egg: On the main menu, shoot a block between the last two columns(breaking the far arena wall) and you'll get a sweet bonus mode.

I saw that video (of that game) a while ago. It was infinitely funnier than Conan has been in years.
I really liked him too, but man his show is worse than Fallon's these days (yes I mean it).

I think Fallon haters are going a bit overboard. He is easy to dislike but he hasn't really done anything bad from what I've seen of his show so far. His in-house band The Roots is easily the best in all of late-night. And his interviews are alright...his jokes suck though but so does Conan's so it all balances out.
NBC's late night lineup is just trash now. Letterman and Ferguson are a lot better.
