Same for me. It just seems tawdry. Those scenes in God of War made me cringe, and the same goes for GTA IV. You can add those sexual manga cartoons to that list.

It all just reminds me of being at school with 13 year old classmates drawing anatomically dubious pictures to titillate each other rather than having the balls to nip down to the corner shop and buying a proper jazz mag. Just wrong. (And yes, I did go to school before the internet became the medium of choice, which dates me a little...)

sex in games... am I the only person who thinks this isn't right? I mean i accept it in movies, how do you sell a weak plot? but in games it's a slightly different story, I would just rather not have to put up with it, I don't want to go to brothels and strip clubs, which is a pity because The Saboteur looks like an amazing and creative game.

will pick it up regardless.

Captain Zapp Brannigan: What are you? Gay?
---
If sex appeal in a game makes you feel so uncomfortable that it detracts from your enjoyment of the game, you probably have some kind of mental anxiety regarding the topic. You may quite possibly want to seek professional help, as I'm sure being intimidated by (virtual) sexual encounters is unhealthy and may cripple any chance of you being with a woman. or a man. whatever floats your prude little boat.

Let me try and be a bit more polite than my peers.

Sex is a part of human society. Everything from music of almost all types (country, rock, heavy metal, pop, dance), movies, tv, advertisments, much of adult fiction books, and yes, video games, has sex as a constantly reoccuring theme. Sexual drawings date back to the cavemen era and have been found in artifacts from a wide range of worldly cultures such as the ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians.

Sex in video games is nothing new either, whether you are looking at Custards Revenge, the very successful Japanese dating sim market, or American guilty pleasures such as DoA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball, the GTA: Hot Coffee mod or games that include it in a more sophisticated way such as Bioware's RPGs, or the upcoming Heavy Rain (strip club scenes count right?)

You ask "is it right" and that is an opinion. You certainly are not the only one that would think so. I once new a 14 year old girl when I was younger whose mother would not let her watch "Shrek" because she thought it was too rude. However, it cannot be denied that most people in gaming culture have no problem with it and in fact welcome it. I am a 21 year old sexually active male (been dating my girlfriend 2 years) and I love having adult oriented games.

I think the question you should ask yourself is why are you offended by sex in adult video games?

You had me until, "I am a 21 year old sexually active male (been dating my girlfriend 2 years) " then I knew you were having a laugh at our expense. Gamers don't have girlfriends, our only exposure to sex is mini games and nude patches.

Good try though dude.

Normally this is where the "just because you are lonely and a virgin doesnt mean we all are" speech would go, but I really dont feel the need to defend myself, as luckily for me the amount of times I get laid is in no way linked to the number of people on "teh interwebs" that believe what I say on it.

I will say that I do hope you are joking and don't seriously believe that. If you aren't, you have my most sincere pity.

I think you are being way to harsh folks. I have a wife and a child on the way, I sure don't have a need for strip clubs and crap like that in games - it isn't something I would like my child exposed to either. I don't think that's prudish at all. (I bet half the people that jump on this issue and act like testosterone filled frat boys in reality avoid that stuff in games too when their wives or significant others are around.)

If you like it then fine, but we all have a right to dislike it in the medium as well.

Not to be mean Duke, but if you don’t want to play a game with a strip club in it...then don't. And as this is an M rated game "INSERT PARENT RESPONSIBLITY SPEECH HERE."

There are plenty of things in games that I don't like, for example, the recent increase in the fascination of putting a few hundred flags or orbs or whatever and hiding them in obscure places on the map and asking the player to collect them. However, I don’t raise my voice demanding that games stop this practice, because I know there are people out there that enjoy that sort of thing. I simply avoid doing it in games that include it, and if it’s a core part of the game I don’t play that game.

Just like you can avoid the sultry parts of a game while playing through it, and if its a core part of the game, don’t play the game. Don't try and say games like this shouldn't be sold because you don't want to play them.

I completely respect anyone's decision to not want things like sex in their video games, but there's absolutely no need to complain about it and say it isn't right. There's nothing "wrong" with it, it's just a matter of taste.

I could understand your complaints if there weren't alternative options on the market, but there is more sex-free games on the market than you'd ever have time to play, so what's the problem? If you don't like it don't support it with your money, but don't go around telling other people it's not right.

Complaining about it however, and saying your going to buy it anyways, is a little hypocritical in my opinion. Especially when, like I already stated, there's more than enough games out there for you to purchase that better suit your personal tastes.

"Don't try and say games like this shouldn't be sold because you don't want to play them."

OK R, I was giving an opinion on something raised. You all jumped down his throat for not liking this stuff in games - a valid opinion in my book and so I responded. I know I can just not play the game - but I was discussing why some of us don't like this stuff. Believe it or not, many of us enjoy games and are still annoyed when scenes in strip clubs and crap suddenly appear. (Hell, my wife talks like all GTA4 contains is a strip club mission.)

I never said anything about games like this not being sold. You just flew past what I was saying there. See: "If you like it then fine, but we all have a right to dislike it in the medium as well."

And Viney, you shouldn't be so opposed to having discussions - its kinda why we go to a blog format site like this.

The oddest thing is... we're against sex, but killing is A-OK.

I know it's virtual killing, but hey: It's also virtual sex.

I think we need to reevaluate both sides of the argument...

@SoshiKitai

That's exactly what I was wondering. So dude is saying he's uncomfy with gaming because he's a family man... Yet he would be okay with this same exact title with no sex or nudity? The who murder, fighting, breaking the law, and swearing parts are cool? Just the nudity/sex?

Do you mostly play Nintendo games or something? Aside from sports games, I don't know a single game on my xbox that doesn't involve beating something up or killing things. Reason being, it's not fun.

No, it existed and was complete crap. The game ran at a snails pace and when you swapped fighting styles with Gen, the game had to take a minute to dump his new move set into the RAM. It sucked bad.

Woo, PixelJunk Shooter! Is there no demo for that? How long does it usually take them to put up demos of PixelJunk games?

I'll probably hold off on Spirit Tracks for a few weeks because I'm in the middle of Devil Survivor.

PJ demos, I dunno, Eden's demo came out a couple weeks before the game released. I don't think there was a demo for Monsters, and if there was, it was way after the game released. I dunno about you, but I'm buying it day 1 demo or no demo :)

It's "Rogue Warrior," not "Rouge Warrior." The meaning of "Rouge Warrior" would be akin to "Red Warrior," which would be quite ironic given the game's subject matter.

Three have been released so far. Ign gave it an 8.6, Nintendo Power gave it an 8, and Play did not give it a numbered score, but said that it was very good, but not consistently scary and did not feel like a Silent Hill game. The Play reviewer did not believe that the series should of changed so drastically.

Either way, I have it preordered because I am a Silent Hill whore.
