I hope if I patch it this time, I'd actually be able to play it. Last patch fucked up my game.

Actually, they released a patch...for the patch, a long time ago to fix that problem. So this one should be all good.

Patches are always a good thing. Sounds like more incremental stuff...

Can we get a solid release date for the new DLC?

If a patch to this game gives me a free HDTV, you better believe I'm buying the fuck out of this game (though that was the eventual plan anyway).

seriously, you should really invest in an HDTV.

What the hell does that have to do with Dragon Age?

You do realize that you're asking for a patch to install new netcode, lobbies, ranking, parties, and the like? Assuming it's even possible, do you want Reach in 2010 or 2011? Because that'd be a side effect.

Yes, it sucks that Firefight is not integrated into Matchmaking. Deal with it. It'll be in Reach (we all know it will be)

Balance
* Daggers now apply 0.5 points of damage per additional point in dexterity and 0.5 points of damage per additional point in strength, as originally intended. This increases dagger damage for high-dexterity characters.

just in time for my rogue to make use of.

* During combat, mana or stamina reserves now correctly regenerate more quickly when reserves are low. This allows players to occasionally use an talent or spell in the later stages of lengthy fights.

also a problem related to melee character for mage eh down the lyrium like it is candy. ( no the lyrium isn't addictive at all=P)

* When exploring, mana and stamina now regenerate more quickly at higher character levels. This reduces downtime between fights.

yay!

* The spells Force Field, Crushing Prison, Cone of Cold, and Blizzard now have shorter durations and/or longer cooldowns. This ensures that combatants can no longer stun-lock each other by repeatedly casting the same spell.

mage nerf kinda needed as those spell were near the broken side

* The cooldowns for several low-level sustained abilities are now shorter. This ensures that players are not penalized for accidentally deactivating them.

* Certain battles were not scaling properly, resulting in excessively difficult fights.
They now scale as intended.

wonder whiich one they were. i guess redcliff. then again it was mistake for me and morrigan to be frost type might have been why.

* Enemy corpses now drop health poultices and money more appropriately, resulting in less clutter in the player's inventory.

yay!

Any chance this could get the PC category tag as well? I love the 'stiq, but I am always sad when PC gaming gets the shaft here. Especially silly that the tag was neglected in this case, when half the post is specifically about the PC version! :)

The nerf to Cone of Cold is a bit of a blow. I used that spell to basically win the entire game. Now it may go back to being vaguely challenging again! This is officially terrible.

Jeez, about friggin' time! It was frustrating that the rogues in my party were not holding their own! Even backstabbing with modifying passives AND Dirty Tactics was not doing as much damage as a regular swing from my main warrior, and I was keeping them HELLA equipped with enchanted weapons and everything! I was basically just keeping them around for opening chests!

* During combat, mana or stamina reserves now correctly regenerate more quickly when reserves are low. This allows players to occasionally use an talent or spell in the later stages of lengthy fights.

Nice.

* When exploring, mana and stamina now regenerate more quickly at higher character levels. This reduces downtime between fights.
Nice again.

* The spells Force Field, Crushing Prison, Cone of Cold, and Blizzard now have shorter durations and/or longer cooldowns. This ensures that combatants can no longer stun-lock each other by repeatedly casting the same spell.

Yeah, having a mage hit you with one of these was an exercise in frustration.

* The cooldowns for several low-level sustained abilities are now shorter. This ensures that players are not penalized for accidentally deactivating them.

Now THIS one I needed. You have no idea how many times I've deactivated Indomitable by mistake only to be hit by friggin' FIREBALL >_<

* Certain battles were not scaling properly, resulting in excessively difficult fights.
They now scale as intended.

DEFINITELY noticed this. I'm around level 11 right now, and just now I started noticing some battles become downright brutal. The battles in Denerim for the sidequests(specifically the abandoned house) and the bounty hunters in Orzammar become party killers all of a sudden. I had to basically tell the rest of my party to hold position and lure the enemy in little by little to be able to handle it.

* Enemy corpses now drop health poultices and money more appropriately, resulting in less clutter in the player's inventory.

I've honestly never had TOO MANY health poultices. God knows I certainly go through them like water.

Overall, yeah, good patch. Nice tweaks and some good fixes. If only other companies were as generous (*COUGH* Bethesda! *COUGH*)

So...the console versions were perfect while the PC ones had all the problems? Riiiiiggghhhttt...

Are consoles being ignored here? Its not like the 360 and PS3 can't get updates.

I believe they're in the cert process with MS & S.. my mate got a patch today, didn;t seem to do anything for the PS3 version he felt.. the 360 version should have the achievement fix for us effiecient gamers who unlocked the DLC ones (too) early, before MS added them to the server

I spent most of the two weeks of my paternity playing this as my PC is closer to the bassinet than my consoles. I played an elf thief and built up my character with almost nothing but Dex, Con and Cunning so this fix should make me unstoppable. The worst battle was the forge of the void battle for me. I played it 10 times before winning. However, scaling back Morrigan's crushing prison will limit me a bit, I used to use that to take at least one enemy out of the equation for a little bit. I never really had a problem with mages in the later levels as I would just run Tyrone (my Mabari hound) up to them first thing to overwhelm. Wow, reading this again I noticed that I seem to be a nerd. Oh well.

I think it will be a nice balance for him as he also had to contend with the strident bickering of all sorts of politicians, the magical tone of numorous spells, and the sweet sounds of an elf making love to a forest witch.
