Game Informer cover reveals redesigned Isaac for Dead Space 2

Game Informer's next issue is going to shed some eerie, bluish-greenish light on the just-announced Dead Space 2, but they're already showing off a new look for lead miner/Necromorph killer Isaac Clark. While we question the wisdom of worrying about fashion in the middle of Necromorph onslaught, we can't argue it's not a snappy look.

While we're thinking of it, is anybody else getting a total Guyver vibe from the new duds? No? Just us? Fair enough.

I don't know, it'll be pretty hard to top the disappointment that is Epic Mickey. They spent weeks teasing and hyping it up, then they had the gall to show off a game that looked like that.

I don't even own a Wii and that Epic Mickey reveal made me mad.

Wouldn't of thought Issac would be in the sequel.. :S

That's what I've been doing too. Playing in slow increments, only a little bit at a time.

Who said it's Isaac? Who knows for sure who is in the suit?

Well... there's a couple possible outcomes here...
1) Maybe we're just assuming he's still here, just because the guy has the same outfit doesn't necessarily mean it's Issac, it seemed as though that outfit was just a general generic engineer's outfit from the game.

2) If it is still him, then that might be a good thing, there could be an element of his slow descent into insanity. That could interestingly play into the story, or even gameplay.

The official announcement, it says that Issac is back... it is possible that he's not the one pictured though. Unlikely.

What I find really strange though, is that if Isaac didn't ask Nicole's ghost for a quickie when they meet in the control room at end of chapter 11.

A simple "spoiler alert" would've gone a long way towards making your comments legit. Simply stating the twist at the end of a game is not discussing said game, it's simply being an ass. When people complain about such ass-douchery, continuing to spoil the plot (not "discussing" but simply stating what happens) only makes you a bigger dick.

So, to repeat my previous "discussion"/statement: Eat shit and die.

You're reading an article about a sequel to a game that came out over a year ago.

I haven't finished it but I'm not huffy about spoilers (especially obvious ones), largely because the story really doesn't fucking matter in Dead Space. 90% of the dialogue is "Go here, do that" and the rest is backstory exposition from found audio logs.

Stop being a whiny bitch and just play the goddamn game if you're so eager to find out what happens in it for yourself.

Isaac is by far the sexiest miner I've ever seen. Even sexier in this sequel.

i dont understand why isaac would be dead or transformed into a necromorph. he's just killed about a thousand monsters on the ishimura and he's supposed to be killed by one necromorph...who is also female (weaker, and no testosterone therefore less aggressive).

SInjin, while what you say may hold some level of relevance when applied to people... I'll not get into how it could be right or wrong, but just for the sake of argument, say it's right, and move on.

One of the more lethal, and annoying enemies in the first game was from babies, man... you had babies giving you one hell of a run for your money.
So, what the enemy was as a human is really no indication of how much damage it can do as a necromorph.

well.. the babies are annoying... but thats just because theyre tricky to kill. if they actually grab you and try to stick thier tentacles into you you will actually kill them if you manage to escape... which you will not be able to do with any other monster.

so i contend that deadspace has some degree of accuracy relating to sex/age..although i dont recall seeing any other female necromorphs... its maybe hard to tell ..they dont wear lipstick for one.

Issac's fate isn't clear, he was only attacked. The really f'ed up part was if Nicole was a complete vision or neromorph who appeared normal to you because how else do you explain her being in the shuttle. Once the marker was destroyed, its affect would have fallen and you saw her in her true form and she was no longer under control.

My thoughts exactly. There's no excuse for DSG to not be on the cover, no matter what, if anything, happened to her in Extraction (haven't played it).

And you Joystiq, did not cleverly hid an image of her in the photo - and for that you should be ashamed.

Hoverboot gameplay?

I think it's more likely that he'll be able to use them to maneuver in zero gravity. Still awesome.

i think it'd be wise of them to justify the costume change. dead space is supposedly a "fish out of water" scenario, with a mild-mannered engineer being pitted against a bevy of necromorphs, so the old suit worked really well....an engineer's suit with just a hint of badassness/future appeal. but, i suppose if they come up with a good reason for new suit it could mesh well. maybe isaac's become such a beast in the time between the games that it's just natural for him to look like an anime badass.

Well, considering he's now one of the world's experts on combating Necromorphs, it makes sense that some military agency would recruit him, equipping him with better gear.

yeah, that's what i'm saying. there's plenty of ways to justify isaac going from a regular engineer to a freakin' badass, i'm just hoping they take to time to actually explain the shift, rather than just introducing a new costume because it "looks edgy."
