GuitarHeroStore scratches DJ Hero price down to $79

If you've been desperately wanting to live the luxurious life of a virtual DJ, but lack the finances required to do so, fret no longer -- GuitarHeroStore has temporarily knocked the price of the Wii, PS3 and 360 versions of DJ Hero down to $79, and the PS2 version of the game to $64. That even includes free shipping, which is good, since plastic turntables probably cost more than your average parcel to transport cross-country.

Make sure you enter in the coupon code "DJHPP1" while checking out in order to access the offer. Otherwise, you'll end up paying full price for the game, losing out on $20 you could've spend on other disc jockey accessories. Like oversized headphones! Or LED-infused robot helmets.

WHAT??? I need to come up with $79, quick! I've been saying that the only thing preventing me from DJ Hero is that $120 price tag but now, it's "affordable" for me! Now, let me take a looksee at my bills...

Gamestop has marked them down $20. I saw the 360 version for $100 and PS2 for $80. This was a Gamestop in Culpeper, VA. I also saw Band Hero packs marked down.

Theyd be losing money at $50 I imagine, but maybe not since its not like they have a whole catalog of music that would cost a load to license like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Theres no way in hell I would buy this game and then another expensive controller just to play it with one other person, and theres no way any of my friends would buy the expensive controller just so they can play.

I think this game is doomed to fail at anything over $70. Rock Band 2 at $99 just destroys the shit out of this game in terms of value. Drop the game+controller down to $70 and the controller down to $30 and there MIGHT be a DJ Hero 2, $100 for a 2 player game still sounds ridiculous though.

yeah, you're right... there is a store code "tenoff" but that just knocks the price down to $89.

I'm holding out for at least $50. This thing will be $20 in a year if there are any still around. Too bad, sounds like it's a fun game.

Great game. Anything that mashes Ice Ice Baby and Hammer Time is a winner in my book.

First I got a friend selling me AC2 for $40, now I got DJ Hero on sale for $80. I planned to wait until after the holidays to buy *anything* other then gifts for other people. Bah. I guess I'll get it then.

Huh, it's almost as if this game isn't selling well...

I loved Beatmania, but this game is just market over-saturation. To clarify, I'm not saying the game sucks, just that they could have figured out a way to just incorporated the peripheral into Guitar/Band Hero and sold it for $60. Same price as selling a 'new' IP, but you don't get the pseudo subscription income by releasing the same game year after year.

There's a Best Buy in my area that has the full game in the demo unit...so every once in a while when I'm there I'll play a few songs and try to get a true feel for if I liked the game enough to make the purchase. This included playing it on the higher difficulties, and some of the tougher songs (not available on the demo)

Then one day, I had some coupons and a gift certificate for the store and I decided I'd go ahead and finally buy this. Then when I walked over to the stack of DJ Hero boxes, the guy working the section looked at me and said: "There you are again, gonna spend another hour on my machine instead of buying it?"

This was in front of a number of other customers, which felt incredibly embarassing. I know I played one or two songs each time I stepped up to the unit, but to get called out like that at the store?

I dunno, it didn't sit well...so I held up my gift certificates and coupons just like "Well, I was gonna" and just walked out of the store. Since then I've been less inclined to try and the demo and less inclined to buy the game.

Way to go Best Buy!

Good response, old chap. Hm, since it's no fail, I would've just handed the stupor-visor a quarter for every time I played it. :) But in reality I can't imagine spending enough time in a Best Buy for any employee to recognize me on sight.

if that hadn't been the first thing the guy had ever said to me, I would have likely let it slide. I'm a regular at the nearby Gamestop and when the employees first started treating me like a regular it was NOT by giving me crap right off the bat.

What these stores don't realize is that YOU are the customer, you are the reason they are still in business. If there is a demo unit, you have all the right in the world to use it. That is what a DEMO unit is for.

Nice ownage there. I despise Best Buy, and these other retailers since they treat their customers like crap, even though the customers probably know more than they do. However, you are forced to go there with those damn gift cards.

Great Job. When GTA IV came out I went to gamestop to buy it.

When I walked in they asked if I needed anything. I asked for if they had GTA IV on xbox 360 (which of course they did, it was all over the place, it was just my way of saying I wanted it) and the guy says nope only PS3.

Normally no big deal, but he and his buddy started dying laughing like I was a moron and they actually pointed at me. I just said ok and turned around to which the guy who said it started freaking out and telling me he was joking but I just left. I would rather have to go somewhere else than be mocked for using your store.

Plus, I think he probably got in trouble from the manager who was standing by the DS games.

On the subject of game shop experiences, I've actually had an employee laugh at me for trying to purchase the non-deluxe pack of Battlefield 2142. Needless to say, i now buy my games online.
