Hey PC gamers, it's the holiday season, are you sure you want to read this post? Who wants to spend the yule upset that not only are they getting Borderlands DLC "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" two weeks after their console brethren but they actually have to pay for it, like a peasant? Wouldn't you rather just sip some eggnog and chill out, rather than focusing on the grave, $9.99 injustice launched into the world today on Steam and Gearbox's store?
No? Okay. But don't tell Baby JC that we didn't do anything to keep your Christmas spirit alive.

Keep in mind this adds Securom to the Steam release and also resets your video settings. Just a warning...
"Congrats, PC gamers. You guys finally get some love."
In other words, not quite this.

And I'm not trying to be a dick, but that was kinda lame. Everything else is like whatever, though.

I hadn't heard of that so I had to check out the Steam forums. Thanks for the heads up, that is ridiculous.
The online still isn't even fixed. Between the shit-excuse of a console port that requires config editing to play anything other than their default controls and now adding Securom to DLC, screw these guys.

Don't worry, you can beat this in 3 hours and get back to your studying. I'm very disappointed in this DLC release. Easier than the main campaign.

Valve releases proper dlc for free, would even do the L4D dlc for free on XBL but have to charge because of microsoft. They release a great PC game with a solid port on 360, opt not to do PS3.
Gearbox calls them fanboys, then releases a console game on PC, delays it to add a stupid jpg function that barely works, restricts the FOV, uses Gamespy instead of Steam, and then delays the dlc and charges for it. Who's the real fanboys here, Gearbox?
Borderlands on PC feels like im emulating a 360 running Borderlands.

You're making Borderlands on the PC sound worse than it is. Yeah, it has its issues, but overall it's a solid product. I agree with you on Gearbox, though.

So let me get this straight, Gamespy still attached which makes online for this game failure. A haphazard amount of bugs not addressed. But they had time to add a root kit, to a DLC consoles saw earlier all for the low price of 9.99.
I wouldn't be so hard of this company if it wasn't from GearBox. This is the company that has the nerve to question valve and steam for their business practices while selling a buggy game to consumers.
You know what hurts the most? Borderlands is such a fun game, the temptation is just so strong. Let's face it 9.99 is nothing, but I can't do it! Gearbox is basically hiding the bad under the good, so we will ignore the bugs because we find the game implantation so much fun.

You put this situation into perfect perspective. I'm in the same situation you are. The gameplay is a lot of fun and I have a good time playing through it.
I play borderlands with a friend and we use Skype to talk while we game. But with borderlands, it has voice chat built into the game and there's no in-game option to turn it off. Well we have nice headsets and skype sounds about 10times better than their built in "talking in a tin can" voice chat. So we had to search the internet to find out which config file to edit. This is after spending 30mins trying to figure out which ports the game has to use and setting up our firewalls so that we could play. (Why won't gaming companies give the users this information?! Arghh)
Even with all the grief we've had with borderlands, the game is so much fun that I found it all worth it. Then the DLC was announced... ugh, zombies? Really? How original. Plus I didn't see a PC release for it at first. Then I read here that they are releasing it but we get to pay to have the worst of the worst DRM installed on our machines even though it's already on the steam service?
Forget it... I consider the game done now when I finish the original content. If they release a new expansion without the DRM then I'll think about picking it back up.

The latest PC patch that came out November 10th has "The Lost and Damned" achievements in the game, saw it myself. Now, where is the fucking official announcement? Maybe on the 15th when MS launches their On Demand service for PC like they did for 360. But MS really couldn't give two shits about PC gaming anyways.

Yep, that too. I am a bit happy that I only paid $7 for my copy on PC. : )
Oh wait, how about "Big Surf Island" for the PC version of Burnout Paradise? And Resident Evil 5 for PC has no plans for DLC.
What is their excuse? That PC gamers tend to not purchase DLC unlike console gamers because they are used to the modding community making mods for them? With these console ports, they rarely get mods anyways because of the lack of a development kit given to the public.
I'm not asking for PC to be treated better than console now, at least treat us the same!

Thank God they fixed the fact that you couldn't play a game with friends unless you opened ports and all the bugs before releasing something that probably also has bugs.

Okay, apparently it was added to the patch for the game, not just the DLC. Every patched version of the game comes with SecuROM.
