Haha, nice joke, cause SH couldn't have done this without it being considered re-imagined. Take that and know it well people. SH wasn't done story wise and any of this was possible if they got what TS had created. If you think this, you don't know SH at all.

This is only for people that thought it was about demons and such for real (see TBolM on Youtube), that hell froze over.

A: The otherworld has varients possible and this icey nightmare could have been but one (SH2 versus), though now it may just be the new otherworld because they always made

B: It has infinite possibilities in story line and this could been no more then a sequel.

C: Power of the town could have spread as it did in 3 and 4

D: Story not over for a repeat of SH1, which from SH1 it got powerful enough to even have SH2 possible (origins is not possible as not even Harry had his manifested)

So, this is not a reimagining but a sequel. Don't think for one instant there could not have been an icey one. SH was for all, but ze americans made it dumb so this had to come of it.

Corrections on A:

I mean SH2 versus the other hellish versions, note that this is gritty even with ice on SM. Also I meant that they always foolishly made it the same and displayed it as a purgitory, which the otherworld was not by the book of lost memories. It shows that SH2 and origins only was possible after Alessa's power and mind went while and displayed her agony of being burned which is all it realy was, and the last major shift on SH1 which caused it to become a catylist for all this for others.

After stories of Alessa it has so much promise for a mixture of things.

I think videojas is trying to say that Pyramid Head's mask got a little stuffy and he turned down the Silent Hill thermostat, thus creating the new Otherworld.

I don't have a Wii, but it sounds like this is worth picking up for my PS2, at least.

I hadn't played 'survival horror' games before, but Dead Space is making me regret that.

Grab RE4 for the Ps2 as well. Graphically it doesn't compare to the GC or Wii, and the controls aren't up to the Wii standard, but it's still a very impressive game overall.

That's on my list, but I thought the GameCube version was the best one, so that's the one I've got in my queue. Is it not?

The Wii version is the best one. The GC version has better graphics than the Ps2 version (and i think better controls, only cause i think GC controller > Ps2 controller) but the Ps2 version has some bonus content and extras. The Wii version has all the bonus content too. The GC version also doesn't run in anamorphic widescreen, so if you play on a widescreen TV, it won't fill the whole screen, it will be presented in widescreen with borders on every side.

The widescreen won't be an issue-my TV automatically scales it to fit the screen.

It will automatically scale it if the game allows it. I've tried the game on several widescreen LCD/Plasma and Rear-Projection sets and it always sits in the middle of the screen with borders on all 4 sides. 99.999% of everything is anamorphic widescreen, meaning it will stretch to fill the screen porperly. RE4 on the GC will not, unless your TV has a special zooming feature, which will probably ruin the picture quality.

If you still have a working Saturn then you should try out Deep Fear. It's not very good, but it was memorable enough to top the campy Resident Evil 1.

Also, if you have a Dreamcast: http://www.racketboy.com/retro/sega/dreamcast/2009/03/the-sega-dreamcast-survival-horror-library.html

D2 is very, very good.

Hmm. Now I'm tempted to get it for the GC just to see how that works out. Yeah, I've got a special zooming feature, to force it either fullscreen or wide zoom.

I had issues with FFXII's cutscenes yesterday, but that's because I'm trying to run it over component.

I...sold my Saturn. (Stupidest Move EVER). But I've still got a Dreamcast, and I know of Eno's D2, so I'll have to look at it. I've got Eternal Darkness on my list as well.

As someone who was never able to get into any of the previous games, playing this would obviously keep any comparisons in the back of my mind at bay, as i have nothing to compare it to (except the movie). It's good to see the flashlight controls work well, tho i would have loved to see this in a "Res Evil 4" style game with some shooting. Either way i'll buy it.

I was considering this game till I saw this review:

http://g4tv.com/games/wii/61989/Silent-Hill-Shattered-Memories/review/

If g4 pans it's gotta be terrible. Wii games always get an automatic +1 there.

Its funny how 1 review can change someones mind. Its like mind-control, where the reviewer is telling people what they do and do not like. Heck i really like Tony Hawk Downhill Jam on the Wii, i think its the best TH game to date, but it did poorly in sales and reviews.

Well i was sorta interested in both this and the Saboteur but I've gotta say I was leaning towards that game anyways, so I guess what I'm saying is since none of the reviews say its an amazing gotta have game, I'll probably go with The Saboteur which is more of my interest to begin with.

I don't see how you'd even compare the two games as one is a survival horror wii title and the other is a sandbox nazi shooter.

2/5 seems way too harsh. Most of the complaints in the review are about how it's not Silent Hill 1, without even giving shattered memories a chance. It's more of a fan bitter for not getting a straight up remake than an honest to god review of how good THIS game is.

G4 reviews gives an automatic +1 for it's Wii opinions? What Bizarro-World crack are you smoking? G4TV.com is often one of the biggest Wii haters online.

The only real service G4 pays to gamers is via giving them images of Olivia Munn to masturbate to.

The release date for this game is now next year, and by then my opinion might have changed, but my enthusiasm for this effort has cooled somewhat. There isn't a single, concrete reason for this change; neither are there many little reasons. The feeling that this game is being produced in the spirit of kitsch doesn't help; even Konami have under-shipped the title.

Also, it doesn't help that I've had my Xbox semi-connected since Halloween with the intention of replaying Silent Hill 2. Few games top SH2. But I sincerely hope Shattered Memories plays as well as this review was written.

It's backwards compatible, but it's rather glitchy. Sometimes cutscenes would result in the game giving the player a blank screen, other times textures would simply refuse to load up. There's some other issues, but all in all the experience is pretty frustrating. Play the game on the PS2 or Xbox if you're lucky enough to own the hardware.

Yamaoka is gone. Team SIlent has been split for a long time. The series as we once knew it is over. If it continues, it must change, and this is a great direction. I'd have bought this already if not for a few outstanding bills and this being a giving season.

Yamaoka has left Konami but I will be very surprised if a new Silent Hill title doesn't feature him returning as an independent composer. His great music makes the games, so I can't see Konami not contracting him just because he's going to charge them a bit more, and he's so involved in the series I'd be surprised to see him turn it down.

I'll probably be picking this up. The whole idea of the world feeling "real" coupled with wiimote controls make it seem really compelling. Plus, it's proof that every game on the wii doesn't have to look like half-assed shit made by someone still in high-school.

The idea of not being able to fight back seems very interesting. Usually, any horror game loses some of the "horror" aspect the moment I get an overpowered weapon that can mow down the enemies left and right.

If you're going to change literally everything about a game except for the names, do us all a favor and just make your own unique game.

Don't try to sell us on it with the name of a series that is completely different than this.

I really like the game so far. The flashlight, the controls and camera system are excellent and the cellphone idea is IMHO revolutionary and implemented perfectly. It's so natural. The gameplay so far is pretty good, though the puzzles are really too simple. The 'throw off the baddies' controls do suck though.

It's spooky and creepy, I don't know if I'd call it scary, but really outside of Thief 3's Cradle level who's ever been scared from a video game?

I never played SH1 or SH2, I played SH3 on a PC and really hated the controls, cameras, etc. I got so frustrated and never got very far. I also tried SH4, and that was just crap. So maybe I don't get the 'OMG they ruined SH' that makes some people react so negatively to the game.

I bought the game, though if I had time to sit and play it all in 1 or 2 sessions it might make a better rental. I don't see how it will have a lot of replay.
