Mmmmmmmm, boxes, how I love you on my shelf above my PC. : )
Although those digital sales of games are extremely tempting, despite my desire for the boxes....

Sweet! Not a bad price, considering the standard is still 20 or higher.

So.. I bought the boxed retail game a while ago. Bought entrenchment all separate-like (which is digital-distribution only, afaik). And now total newbs* to the game have a better chance to grab the Diplomacy beta?

Early adoption hurts.. Even when it's not all that early, I guess.

* disclaimer: I suck in multiplayer

It's not for preorders of the box, its for preorders of Diplomacy. So you and I can both preorder Diplomacy and get into the beta, regardless of our early adoption of the game.

I thought it was for pre-orders of "Trinity", and not only Diplomacy. Has the article led me astray?

I tried playing the demo and I just didn't get it. I felt like I was constantly doing something wrong and the enemy fleet came to my solar system or whatever and annihilated my 3 ships.

I have no idea how to play that game, but I'd love to know how. Maybe someday.

I had some similar problems, but once I ironed things out a bit, it proved a good purchase. Like Starcraft, however, I tend to get owned by people online.

If you only had three ships by the time the AI attacked, you probably were doing something wrong.

You get the beta for Diplomacy if you purchase either the box containing all of it or just the digital copy of Diplomacy. I did the latter.

Riddle me this, how can you PRE-ORDER a game and two expansions. Something that does not release until Feb. 9. Yet, even before your PRE-ORDER becomes an ORDER you can play the beta of the SECOND EXPANSION...when you don't even have the two preceding pieces to the puzzle.

I think if you pre-order the box on Impulse they let you d/l the original and Entrenchment while you wait for the boxed version, then you can also get the Diplomacy beta and play that too.

Might do this just so I can actually start playing the game. Only played it twice. Once to learn how to play and then 1 Six hour skirmish...

Anyone know if the new expansion will fix the 10 minute Minidump crash that a lot of people were having with Entrenchment?
