I'm not sure that's fair. Most of them were just collecting a paycheck and it's not their fault that this crappy design was what they wound up working on.

Whoever approved this product however should be fired. It never seemed like it was going to be a product that could succeed and should n ever have been approved in the first place. There are also at least a few people who should have stepped in to stop it along the way and they should probably be out of work as well.

It's been enough years since a real Tony Hawk game (THPS3 was a GameCube launch title!), so I'm kind of hoping they go back in that direction again. After all these years I could play some more of that again. None of this going around or bullshit "skater culture" crap, just some crazy ass levels with tons of tricks, a two minute timer, and a score.

Since it's almost winter, maybe the people who bought it could use it as a sled.

$120 sled I don't know, but you can also use it as a water device in the summer for the beach if it floats. Or a weapon for any season.

Damn maybe I should buy one

That is 114 thousand people who either have too much money or not enough sense.

Or both.

Doing a quick check on the semi reliable VG Chartz, the other expensive Activison plastic peripheral game, DJ Hero, has sold just under 1 million units worldwide on all platforms in about a month in a half. For a game as expensive as it is, that's not bad, and it deserves it since it is a pretty good game.

Tony Hawk Ride on the other hand? Under 400k in about three weeks, and that game is fucking terrible. Personally, it deserved even less then that, but more then anything I just feel bad for the people who bought that.

I saw some mom at target with that Tony Hawk ride game in her cart. I was so tempted to go up to her and tell her that game sucks and her kids are going to hate it.

I saw a tweet before from Ride that Tony Hawk himself was popping in and playing Ride...last ditch efforts to drum up a few sales...sad...well at least we still have the Skate franchise...Danny Way please dont make a shoddy craptastic board to throw away...just keep making good skate games

114,000 is more than what anyone would have expected for this game. And I can bet that the majority of that 114,000 will be very disappointed for paying $120 for this piece of crap.

From what I've read, Ride sounds more like the Downhill Jam game, than the Pro Skater series. I imagine a younger skater who is still learning to ride a real skateboard would still have a lot of fun with this.

Hopefully a better game will take advantage of the controller in the future. I have dreamt of a game like this for near 15 years, so it rather sucks to see it fail.

That said,

Top Skater/Air Trix downloadable FTW.

DJ Hero failed because of price, Ride failed because it's a POS and it's expensive. I really urge people to try DJ Hero if you like dance music, the reviews are right this time.

I wonder if this board will become a cult classic? Like we'll see it featured on some futuristic VH-1 or something and people will be like, yeah this is the kinda stuff they made in 2009, it's crazy, but it's the sh*t.
