November was a good month for GameStop, as the retailer has announced sales for its new games were up 15 percent. We contacted GameStop to get some clarification on the vague 15 percent figure and VP Chris Olivera said this was compared to November 2008.
It's not that tough to gather how the company upped its profits. Aside from a massive used games sale, the company also offered some sweet Black Friday console bundles and a week-long sale on new games -- all of which managed to get folks in the store, spending cash.

I wonder, how does Gamestop make all that money?

Well, It's little things, The employees at my local Gamestop, have substandard service. I remember, On my first visit, I wanted to purchase a used copy of Call of Duty W@W on Xbox, But instead within the case, I received Call Of Duty 2. It was a pretty bad first impression they left me with. And their prices are Ok. But Amazon does so much better, And you don't have to buy from Teenage employees who spend their time playing around in the store. I'm not really against Gamestop itself, I suppose. It's more like My local Gamestop

Where the fuck do you live? Retard-land?
Who the fuck does that? Don't you fucking look at the damn CD before you leave the counter, let alone the store???
I get great service at my local GameStop... been going to the closest one ever since I moved to Texas. People who know what they're talking about. People who actually give a damn. Nowadays, there's a new crew coming in, but some of the regulars are still around. Last 4 digits of their phone number is 1337, no joke. That's how awesome it is.
It really dawns on me how stupid the rest of the nation is based on how bad some of the GameStops y'all talk about are. It would make sense if you live in a mentally-challenged Southern or Midwestern state, or Utah.

I know my post would be downvoted. I'm sorry about the bad service y'all get from your local Gamestops. EB Games was so much better, honestly. But I'm one of the few that get some good service from a B&M videogame store. Sorry but it's the truth.
It's not like I'm not down with saving money on games. I'm all for saving money.

I love this image because I love how unspeakably ghetto and horrific it is. Opposing perspectives, different resolutions, aliasing and blobs... It's so bad, it's Dreamgirl Incredibad.

God, the new ebGames near me (owned by GameStop/same dealio) has the worst fucking guy running it in the mornings.
Some stupid pale ass scrawny kid with the worst attitude. He will FIGHT you verbablly if you try to buy a game which he doesn't approve of. He was actually telling people NOT to buy Halo 3: ODST when it first came out because it wasn't worth $60. Now, I have no problems with a guy giving me his opinion on it and saying why not etc. etc. and then letting me choose. He was being extremely AGGRESSIVE in NOT selling it. If he was running a sale through at the counter and overheard some mom talking about ODST and if she should get it for her son or whatever he would stop the sale, look past the dude he was helping and tell her not to.
Then, when I finally got to the counter to buy my shit the kid spots this other guy about to pick up a copy of ODST and he basically LEAVES ME AT THE COUNTER AND WALKS OVER TO HIM to tell HIM TO NOT BUY IT.
WHAT?!
Yes, I AM bitter becaues they hired that dumbass over me only because he managed to get his resume in before I did. What an idiot.
Anyway, what were we talking about? Oh, right. I prefer yellow grapefruit to pink grapefruit.

...funny how a guy like this keeps his job, while a manager of a gamestop near me was great at greeting people, giving people deals to encourage them to purchase more games, giving freebies that HE got from meetings, knowing all about the games he's selling and when they're coming, making great recommendations, even encouraging people to go to a different store where they had a better deal, gave his honest opinions about games but never refused people from buying games he thought were bad, being patient with callers who ask the same thing over and over again -attracting tons more customers and life-long customers than any Gamestop advertisement could have done......... got fired. Because his ex got a higher position than him.
All the workers of that gamestop left after he was fired. Several customers stopped shopping there (giving the Play N Trade nearby more customers). ...what did Gamestop do? Hire a buncha' advertised-mouthed youngin's who had no idea what they were selling, constantly asking if people wanted to pre-order something, and they set up a brand new flat screen that hung from the ceiling...
...wonderful.
I'm bitter too.

That's actually a picture of the Gamestop in my neighborhood.
It's a 38 story walk-up. No elevators. They would have had to pay someone more than $7.00 an hour to build a shaft, so they went with ladders.
To get to the complaint department, you have to walk on a plank onto the ledge of the 38th floor, and jump down to the "Complaint Trampoline" marked with a bulls-eye in the parking lot.
Also employees have to park on the roof.

they're only getting an increase with some of the ridiculous pre-order bonuses.
but at least we know we can most likely boycott them and just wait. Cole's gigawatt blades for inFAMOUS just got released as DLC after all..!

Not only that, but developers and publishers will continue to complain about used game sales, and than give pre-order bonuses to the one place that makes a huge profit off of them.

I have two Gamestops, within about a mile of each other. The little one near Wal-Mart has really cool boy employees who are really respectful and know their games and seem to own every system and know more than you. I like that. The other one was super busy, but the employees were rude and arrogant and would try to talk you out of a game or assume that their opinion was of any "significance... at... all. What's there?" I went there recently and a really nerdy but sorta cute woman (with rather hairy forearms) helped me get exactly what I needed quickly and didn't give me any B.S. And then when I was in line, they worked the line like Starbucks USED TO, directing traffic to get people in and out. Now I'm torn. I like my hairy girl at the 2nd Gamestop. But I like my "Jeeves-like" gentlemen (even the youngest, who is about... 12) at the first Gamestop. They have definitely improved.
