It's been a while since the Medal of Honor franchise has found its way on to store shelves, but we're interested for what the series will bring to the crowded realm of modern shooters. At tonight's 2009 Video Game Awards, the first footage of the recently revealedMedal of Honor impressed with solid visuals and a metric ton of explosions.
Not enough for you? The gameplay trailer concluded with one NPC kicking a booby trapped prisoner through a high rise window. Now we're not marketing pros, but that should be the first bullet point on the back of the game's box. Check out the trailer -- in all its YouTube quality glory -- after the break.
Looks just as bad ass as any Call of Duty trailer I've ever seen. I do believe we have a legitimate competitor on our hands here people. Let's see what they do with it...
Hard to really tell anything from that youtube video but I guess it looked decent. Looked like MW2 to me ... maybe it'll be good maybe it won't. Who knows. The trailer didn't get me super excited or anything. It can't have a worse story than MW2 but it can have much crappier mechanics. We'll have to wait and see. Not all that stoked.
This isn't gameplay footage. I have no doubt of that. The high quality trailer can be found on Gametrailers.com, and it's really obvious the trailer was created as a "target video" for the dev team + marketing purposes. Not a single second of gameplay footage is in here.
Remember the Killzone 2 trailer that was done from the first person, was claimed to be gameplay footage, but was later revealed to be a pre-rendered CG "target" video?
Yeah, this trailer has all the markings of that to me. It simply looks too good and clean, like it was made on hardware that doesn't exist yet.
It looked liked it copied a little from MW2, but I'm still happy to see MoH make a return. In a way, it's more realistic than MW2 because those SF guys really do look like that. Hopefully they got an actual SF operative to give them feedback.
My favorite FPS ever is still AA (probably the nostalgia) and I've always liked MoH games more than CoD ones because you play as just one guy, whereas in CoD it's very frantic.
Don't know why people are hating this game so much just by watching a trailer. I think it looks great and feels like it's going to be a good solid game.
And with Dice behind the multiplayer aspect of this game you just know it's going to kick ass.
I used to have the first MoH for PS1.. it was as cool as an FPS with no analog sticks could be lol.. this new version def. resembles MW in style.. it appears though they may make this one a little more over-the-top than MW.
Hahaha not only is this whole blame game of "COPYCAT" is happening in the Action Adventure genre, like Dante's Inferno out right copying God of War 3. Which is not a bad thing, it only means that God of War 3 will have to out-do itself and Dante Inferno.
People, Competition brews better games.
Did we all forget that Medal of Honor was out before Call of Duty. I can see intelligent people on this site didn't, but alot of these CoD fanboys are making themselves look dumb.
Now, yes it's true the gameplay is similar to MW2, but it has to be because MW is such a popular series, people it's called Capitalism.
I have high hopes for MoH and I hope that it's better then CoD MW2. That way the CoD series can work even harder to make a better game. I mean, MW2 had a short single player campaign and I heard from alot of MW1 veteran players that, MW2 isn't as good as the first one. I'm talking about people that play the game on it's original platform the PC.
Look, I'm the first one to tell you that I'm a huge HUGE God of War fan, and yes Dante's Inferno is a blatant rip off, but fact of the matter is; is that it's a homage to the gameplay of God of War, and that breeds better competition.
It's not that bad to be a fanboy of a certain game, but it's horrible to try and put a game down just because it's similar to your precious little game, get use to it. The gaming industry is about making money. Look at what happened to Tony Hawk games, it got outdone by the game Skate and I can guarantee you that the next Tony Hawk game will have similar gameplay and controls to Skate.
After looking at it again, why does it feel like Socom & Battlefield Bad Company's baby? I like where they are going with it all and I like that the value seems high but it does need more baking time because people animation moves funny & look a bit odd as well. Otherwise I see promise.
