The Spike VGAs this evening may very well reveal the first gameplay of upcoming MMA-er UFC Undisputed 2010, but the most recent GameStop weekly is dropping release date bombs on us well before tonight's festivities kickoff. According to the ad, the game will be grappling onto store shelves on May 25 and, as you might imagine, you're welcome to "pre-order now!"
While we're normally reticent to trust release dates from retailers as absolute truth, the prominence of this information among a weekly advertisement -- and the fact that the game is getting "World Premiere" treatment on tonight's award show -- puts some confidence in our normally skeptical perception of situations like this. Either way, we're likely to confirm this report's veracity when the VGAs roll this evening.
[Thanks Erik!]

Yeah, but UFC Undisputed 2009 was actually surprisingly good.

The first gives a great foundation to build upon. Even with some of the issues the game had it was still top 5 this year for me. I hope the new one gets better support after launch by the way of DLC and patches. Also, no excuse not to have southpaw, use an existing fighter in career mode, better transition and submissions as well as more fluidity in the animations.
EA Sports MMA has a lot to live up to being in the shadow of Undisputed.

Sony's sports titles usually come out in the same year they're titled as too, and if I remember right, so did Sega's.

they planned on having this game pretty much from when UFC 2009 was released. That doesn't make it right because, honestly, how much could they have really done to improve it in a year.
Guess when we see the trailer tonight will help see what they have done differently. At least I hope. Game could definitely be prettier, better animations, and so on. 2009 did a lot of good things so hopefully they just take that and build a lot ontop of it. I hope they change the button mashing, spinning stick aspect of it tho. Pretty much broke 2 controllers.

Slightly off-topic, but I would like to commend GameStop on some actually impressive customer service.
I went in on Black Friday to purchase Lego Rock Band and get the AC/DC track pack for free. Unfortunately, the AC/DC pack wasn't ringing up correctly, so consequently I could not get it for free.
After emailing customer service (which was really hard to find, it's storeissues@gamestop.com for reference) the District Mgr emailed me personally, and after a brief phone call, I was informed that my copy of AC/DC RB was waiting for me in the store.

6 MONTHS in advance? Really, Gamestop? You think I'm so concerned that the next UFC game is going to be sold out, that I'm going to pay for a part of it a half-year before it comes out?
I would LOVE to see how many people are actually doing this.
