At a recent press event held for Gran Turismo 5, associate producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda let slip that Sony is "eying" a Summer 2010 for the game on this side of the Pacific. Destructoid reports that Hinojosa-Miranda wouldn't confirm the possibility of DLC for the upcoming title, nor would he commit to there being any difference (content-wise) between the Japanese release this March and the eventual North American release. Allegedly "details are coming soon," and there's always that demo coming to PSN -- but we were really hoping for the early 2010 release that GT5 head Kazunori Yamauchi had teased a few months back.

I did call the release date something like 4 years ago, back when I was still playing GT4 online. The really entertaining part is that Turn 10 has released 3 games, or the entire Forza franchise, between GT4 and GT5.
Ah well, I've moved on to sim racing anyways. I got my fill of console racers.

My way of viewing it is they realized when making GT4, why bother making a game when you can keep charging $20-$30 for a demo?
They sold somewhere around 4 million copies of 5 Prologue. Then again, that does run on the same engine, so I suppose they found a great way to fund development, in a way only a few developers could.

i still love the ease of picking up a console racer and playing. however i dont like the arcadish feel of Shift/Grind. im still content with the old fashion console sim. it may not be as hardcore as their PC brothers, but it doesnt have to be.
as for GT5? i really dont care anymore. the game that got me to buy a PS2 at launch was the promise of more GT, and GT3 news was really showing promise. i played the hell out of it, but when GT4 came out, it was a huge disappointment. great graphics, not much else.
then i got an Xbox 360 (i also own a PS3) and played forza 1 (this is before Forza 2) and i never picked up GT3 again. then Forza 2 came out and it was WAY better, mildly disappointing graphics, but a very enjoyable game. now with Forza 3, i have no desire for a new racer in the next few years.
now, i'll likely pick up GT5 if the reviews are good, but i'll wait for a used copy. i picked up GTHD, and it was bad, really bad. so i hope GT5 doesnt share much with it. with the amount of time they have spent on the game, it should be amazing, i just have doubts about the series now. its no longer a series that im going to buy without waiting for reviews.

Actually im talking about Prologue anyway. and if its just an updated version as well, then they shouldnt have charged $40 for it.
i'd have remembered the name of it if i didnt sell it 3 days later due to it being so horrible.
and yes, i know im going to get the fanboys after me. when it comes to games like this, you cant just give an honest opinion from experience without the fanboys freaking out.

So what made you hate GT5 Prologue so much? The 1080p graphics? The in-car views? Having 16 cars on the track at a time? Being able to use high-end PC steering wheels?
I know the game isn't perfect and there certainly weren't enough cars or tracks for that matter, but you shouldn't have been expecting as much content as Forza 2.

it was mostly the feeling when you turned into a corner. it was completely possible to take a car from 60mph down to 30mph by doing a hard turn.
thats just not realistic. and it ruined the game for me.
basing your opinion on a racing game on graphics is pretty bad at this point. both the GT series and the Forza series are good in the department. 60fps or 1080p, honestly i dont care. what GT does have that i care about is proper lighting, something the guys at turn 10 really screwed up with forza 2... but its graphics, who really cares when they are both at such a high level now?
steering wheel issue is valid, but i dont use one. so it dosnt effect me. (btw Forza 3 has a pretty impressive steering wheel offered for the hardcore fans)
again, its not that i was expecting a full game, i knew i was paying for a demo. but it wasnt a realistic experience. which is what the franchise is all about.

You're not discussing the franchise, you are just talking about how each of the games made you feel ¬_¬ Happy or sad, then go on to say that Forza has made you so happy that you haven't needed to eat.
Discussing the franchise is as thus: I liked GT 1 - 3, but I was rather dissopointed with 4, I hope the outcome quality of 5 is substantial. We don't need to hear about everything you did, nor do we need to hear about you buying a 360, we know Forza is on 360, where else could it be?

I'm discussing the franchise as it has effected me. how i have experienced it. happy? sad? no. Satisfied, unsatisfied. and it should be their goal to satisfy their customers. its pretty simple really.
but the most simple solution to your problem with the personalized post. is this:
don't read what you don't want to read. if you don't want to read a post about how someone reacted to a franchise or a genre as it progressed, then stop reading and move on to the next.
most children learn to do this, why couldn't you?

Satisfied or unsatisfied, happy or sad, all the same thing. GT4 made you cry, Forza made you smile, we get it, its still not needed. And yeah, I could have gone past it, but I preferred to inform you it had little relevance.

Seriously Saturn, you just complained about a guy telling us his experiences/opinions with games relevant to the topic at hand.
....Why? There are so many fanbois and trolls on this site and you rarely complain about them during their rants, but someone does a little story and you disagree with it so you try and tell him the "proper" way to tell us about his opinions of these games?
Let me translate your post into real English for everyone: I disagree with your opinion but you didn’t present it in a fanboyish or trollish way, so I'm going to attack the length and personal tone of your post instead.
You aren't Queen/King of the Internet. People don’t have to conform to your standards when they want to post a little story on here. Also, give me a decent reason to and some free time, and I am certain I can dig through your post history and find something roughly equivalent to what SmilinGoat posted.
I am surprised at you Saturn. Normally you are one of the few voices of reason and mature minds on this site. Not in this case.

R, maybe thats because it depends on what draws me to the comment to begin with, usually I'm not interested, but being a GT fan, the first thing that drew me in was the fact that it was being demeaned in contrast to Forza, now thats not to say I have a dislike against Forza in the slightest, if anything, I agree that Forza has certainly pushed out 3 amazing titles. It just caught my attention that SmilinGoat was praising it with all virtues and at the same time putting down GT, then going on to 'make it sound' like GT5 won't even be worth his time even if it does well, so much so that he'd only buy a used copy.
He then clarified what he meant, but that's just how it sounds if not clarified.
And you know what, if you did have the time, I would actually challenge you to do just that, find something whereby I have talked about the history I've had with a game, then praise how another game became my game of choice.

I'm pretty meh on this.
I just wonder if the racing sim is over on consoles. Forza 3 is an excellent sim, was highly rated and still no one seems to give much of a crap. GT5 has perhaps a slight advantage due to name recognition but still I can't imagine it'll make a big splash either.

you realize that Forza 3 has already sold over 1 million copies. GT5 will easily sell FAR more than that.

1M for a game rated that highly? Still lower than I expected. And it's getting no media play at all. I'll lay you it doesn't win best 360 game this year, even though half of ODST's content was just a new copy of Halo 3.

thats true, but it is a genre that doesnt get much press.
fox news cant talk about boobs/drugs/violence.
its also a bit of a niche market. not a lot of people really buy into console sims. understandably.

Then again, I would also like them to spend time on it and make it outstanding in every possible way. Hmm, double sided coin, heads or tails :/

And you should know because of course you work with the team, so if anything, I should be asking you what Polyphoney are doing, because based on what you've just said, they've obviously been chilling out smoking weed all day instead of making it :D
If you've come here to preach about Forza again and how you'd never go back to GT, I recommend telling someone who gives a damn.

you might revisit my post. where i clearly sate that i'll probably be picking up GT5. and that ive been disappointed with the most recent from the franchise. (and im far from alone on that one)
i should know? yeah. i should. i follow the game industry pretty close, i play games quite often. and i have seen Turn 10 make 3 very good (and well received) games in the time that GT5 has been in production.
therefor yes, a company can make a racing sim in 5.5 years. in fact they CAN make 3.

Sorry I was under the impression that by "i have no desire for a new racer in the next few years" you meant, eh em, you have no desire, meaning, you do not want to play anything other then Forza 3 for a few years unless quote "i'll likely pick up GT5 if the reviews are good, but i'll wait for a used copy" Which contradicts your first statement, then goes on to point out that you'll buy a used copy, which again destroys the credibility that that statement could have had and makes the whole speech pointless.
At no point did I say I was happy with GT4, I too believed it could have been improved in many ways, which is why I hope they are taking this into account with GT5, much the same way Guerilla did with Killzone 2 vs 1. I would like to see the game release tomorrow if that were possible, but the fact they are taking long obviously tells you its for a reason. They arent sitting around picking thier nose.
As for Turn 10 making 3 good games, good for them, they didn't have to rebuild an engine for 360, nor do they have to make all the cars all over again from scratch, nor do they have to recreate all the tracks they created. They also don't have to make the quantity of cars that GT5 is trying to push out, deal with new technology, loading times cut, ways of making the networking perform to its utmost potential.
If anything, Turn 10 can make Forza 4 next week, why? Because once you have all the components, all you have to do is simply update them, and considering the tech Turn 10 is using hasn't changed (360 tech), there shouldn't be a delay for them, so when you say turn 10 pushed 3 good games out the door, they damn well should have, they have no excuse.
