Heres to another 10 years of mad beats! ^_^

Music from there takes up about 1/6 of my playlist, and quite a few GB of my hard drive, but the sheer quality of the music makes it worthwhile.

I remember when I would religiously check OCRM daily just to hear what was new. It's hard to do now though as I don't recognize any of the contributing artists, seems a lot of the old dogs moved on. I swear I had every single remix up through 2005, which was about the height of VGMix as well (everything after VGMix v2 and the DOD glory days is an absolute mystery to me, I lost all interest in the scene when the V3 redesign took like 10,000 years).

Congrats to the lot of em though. There's still a few choice classics floating around my iTunes' shuffle. Israfel's "Tears for a Moonlit Knight" FTW!

OCR is pretty overrated for video game remixes.
VGMix was godly, when it was still around...
Hey, at least DoD still provides with monthly tunes.

Both were great sites. VGMix had a lot more stuff because it didn't have someone reviewing each one that got upped. Hence it was full of utter garbage but there was some great stuff there too, whereas OCR has always been top notch for almost every song even if there aren't as many.

OCR is pretty ok I guess. I liked one remix of the MGS2 theme I heard once. That theme already owned though so I guess its not really a huge achievement?

Because yeah, that's OBVIOUSLY the only remix they've EVER done.

For 10 years, the numbers seem kinda small, but then you see it's a prime example of quality over quantity. Keep on shining OCRemix!

why do most gamers listen to dj music or remixes of songs or techno? am i the only gamer here that listens to punkrock and hardcore? i mean i respect your music choices, but every gaming site i go to it seems gamers only listen to remixes or remixes of game music or just hip hop:-/ i wander if we've been stereotyped musically..

Some of their album remixes are just darling.

But the individual stuff is really hit or miss... problem is the tags for the music is awful so it does not go into my music library, peroid. It just kills the organization, and as much as it might upset some, video game music just doesn't do it for 95 percent of the play lists I create.

I was actually really really into the website when i was about 15 or 16, but that was when I really didn't know anything about music. Now adays, unless it is a classical rendition, or some spiffy techno remix.... the music just isn't worth saving. And is a real party play list KILLER. As in, don't ever try to use it.

Yeah based on what criteria? Music preference is subjective, what one person considers garbage someone else likes.

I happen to dislike most of the music on OCR since it tends to sway to heavily on the generic samples and synths as apposed to actual instruments.

But who cares as long as you can get your Top 40 force-fed to you, right?

Seriously?
10 years, and nobody's done the final fight music?!
Final Fight 3 had some of the best SNES game music in history, yet nobody seems to find it worthy of either remixing nor torrenting :(

The comic from back in the day was nice, too. A time capsule in comic form.
