Looks like the typo has been corrected, making the previous posts seem confusing to anybody who sees the corrected story.
Damn you, Joystiq! You've made me look the fool for the last time!

Battlefront 3 news! Somebody tipped me off to this today: Gamestop Canada's newly updated page, and guess what is there...

http://www.gamestop.ca/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=battlefront%203

That's right guys. Turns out if you call Gamestop they will confirm it. We are getting Battlefront III June/July 2010.

I'd settle for a light saber that's more than a simple glowing club. Maybe if they figure out how to make it so they can cut stuff this time around...

Yeah, I liked the Jedi Knight series for keeping it as it should be: a ridiculous haxxor weapon that cuts through people like butter. Force Unleashed was fun, but seriously, your saber was like a colorful baton.

So true!

I had so much hate for this game when I went through Sith Master.

The blaster bolts are almost instant death and your lightsaber does almost nothing against puny stormtroopers. And it was horrible when you knocked a storm trooper over, he wouldn't die, he'd slowly get up and whats, you'd try to stab him with the saber, but starkiller just blindly swings his saber while 20 troopers shoot you down like Kennedy.

Starkiller was the original name for skywalker in the first drafts of the starwars scripts. Take from that what you will.

"In the announcement trailer -- Dark Vader's once apprentice -- codenamed "Starkiller" steps into a dark arena..."

Ah, just curious that someone with the code name "Starkiller" is in it and that happened to be Luke's family name until it changed in the final script.
Could be some kind of secret hint that he's somehow related.
That or it's just lazy.
Or a red herring. Who knows.

It was originally Luke Starkiller, but was renamed to Skywalker, because the aforementioned seemed too violent.

If you'd played the first Force Unleashed, you would know that Starkiller is your character, found and raised by Vader, and he's some Jedi's son.

The first game definitely fit the Star Wars universe well and was a pretty interesting story. The gameplay was pretty good too, but I feel like there's untapped potential. Hopefully they step it up a notch. The dual light sabers has me excited.

The game only fits the story if you choose the good option. If you go evil, then it just does it's own thing.

There wasnt anything pretty good about the gameplay. The gameplay was horribly shallow, its one of the worst button mashers to come out this generation. This game belongs in the arcades where people will only play it for a few minutes and dont have to learn anything, it has no business being a multi-hour console game.

The first game sucked, and they fired everyone who worked on it. So 2 questions.

Who is making this game?

And Why would I want play play a sequal to a bad game?

"Sadly, it was all CG, but we'll take any new Force Unleashed we can get."

Why? The first one was awful. The story was the only even marginal high point - the combat mechanics were unplayable garbage.

I think you had to play apprentice to actually liked the game.. I went straight in on Lord, and on each play through, or through the dlc, I found it more & more buggy.. constant frame drop, screen tear, getting stuck on scenery.. the star destroyer sequence wasn't cinematic when you actually did it.. hell I got stuck lying down and slid through the floor.. and how come, I could throw 50ft 'steel' doors with ease.. yet a 8ft heavy armour stormtrooper was impossible?

***SPOILER ALERT***

OK, granted the trailer was cool. But... how is this possible? Didn't the 1st game end in a way that Starkiller was either killed (light side ending) or turned into a hideous cyborg at Palpatine's command? (dark side ending)

Are they just doing an alternate ending/take on the previous game? AND NOT TO SOUND LIKE A GODDAMN NERD, but how is it possible? It couldn't be cannon.

I love Star Wars and all (despite it's flaws) but is this really "Star Wars"? Where's the mythology and the mysticism and "Hero with a Thousand Faces" type of story? It's buried under mountains of dual lightsabers, backflips, and OMG EXTREME SHIT!!!1! (Yes, I understand that all of those things are in the prequels) but it just seems like style over substance.

Very true Derek, but how does he get from **(pretty much freakin dead)** to alive and jumping, whilst duel wielding blue sabers?

Ugh. Guess I just wanted Battlefront 3. I was completely satisfied with the ending of TFU. I didn't think it needed a sequel. What's wrong with stand-alone games? (Yes, I know that the Star Wars franchise is based on a double trilogy and I see the inherent irony of my question)

Here's to hoping they have a story to tell (I really enjoyed the first one's story) and it's not just some lame cash-grab with MOAR SABERZZ and ExPL0S10NS!!1!1!

Oh okay...

So there will be no new dlc for the first one? I thought they were doing dlc off of Return of the Jedi? So I take it they're not doing that now?

Its cool, its not like I won't buy this game. The first was badass and dual wielding light sabers is mega badass. It be really awesome if we could change our fighting styles.

There are so many plot holes in Star Wars you could fit any damn thing you wanted to in. I mean how'd like 30 guys without armor and a crybaby take down an empire? Clearly Yoda was mixin' it up with Starkiller somewhere trying to weed out the numbers under the cover of the initial rebel attacks. Who fucking cares, George Lucas said the story was OK, it's his fucking canon, chill out.

Fuck that, I'm with Sage. Even Star Wars has rules, loose as they are. The whole point of Star Killer dying (which was pretty fucking conclusive) was that he wouldn't be alive to fuck up the first 3 movies' plot lines. If there's a guy that does this much cool shit while Luke is around, then it completely undermines the original trilogy's exploits and triumphs. Authors have spent the past 26 years bleeding this era dry. This strikes me as really poorly conceived.

Sure Lucas signed off on it, but that seems more like an indicator of failure, not quality. Did you watch the prequel trilogy? Since the 3 first movies, the best Star Wars stuff has been devoid of Lucas. The comics, KOTOR, the old Clone Wars miniseries, ect.

If this was a different era I'd be stoked. Or how about if you were like, a wookiee? And you pretty much just fucked shit up and ripped people's arms off? God of War - Kratos + Wookiee. How fucking rad would that shit be?

*SPOILERS*

But... He DIED.

The good ending, the canonical one, has him dying keeping the emperor from killing some losers I forget the names of.

The NON-canonical ending, the bad one, has him survive, but he's in some evil robot Darth Vader-ish get-up.

You know, at this point, fuck Star Wars. I should have stopped caring right after the original cartoon Clone Wars series ended. That was awesome.
