We're just not sure if we can get behind the aesthetic of the Yager-developed, 2K-published shooter Spec Ops: The Line which was officially revealed during last night's Spike Video Game Awards. It just looks way too gritty for us.
Now that we've gotten that pun we've been wanting to make since we first saw the game last night out of the way, we can tell you that the debut trailer is posted after the jump. Despite our irreverent panning during last night's festivities, it doesn't look half bad. According to the last screen of the trailer, it's coming to 360, PS3 and PC. Check out the video if you're a fan of sandy environments, ruined landscapes, female vocalists and egregious violations of the Geneva convention.
Update: We've added a hi-res version of the trailer above.
Actually, the game seems very familiar but done very well to me. Its as if every game before it has lead up to this. The game play and graphics seem work, especially the graphics. The whole desert thing might get a little tired, but who said that would be the only environment right? Anyway, it's not like there isn't much choice come 2010. Don't like it, don't buy it. Till then, piss off.
Oh shit I forgot about Other M. That game looks awesome
@tmac
Different people like different games. I would never spend $60 on Mass Effect 2 because I don't like those type of games. No More Heroes on the other hand is fresh and fun to me, so I'll be getting that.
Who cares if nothing was announced for the Wii? Nintendo fans (like me) will get all of our announcements at e3 like we always do. Nothing to see here, folks....
Shut that damn bitch up! I was trying to check out the details in the trailer but couldn't concentrate with the crap music and her howling in the background.
Yeah, at first I was like ??? But the humongous skyscrapers reminded me of the shows I've seen on Discovery and stuff. I always wonder when something like that would happen in Dubai. It's a terrible thought.
It was slightly weird that almost the entire trailer was gameplay. I didn't know it was Dubai, but now that I do, I'm hooked. Hopefully there'll be some Palm Island firefights, and you get to command an AC-130 or something over it.
Looks good, and I'm impressed that the studio is clearly confident in it enough to show us a trailer entirely of gameplay footage. That can only be good news right?
I'd love to see a PROPER Rainbow Six title again. Nothing would make me happier to lead 3 teams composed of various members, claling off waypoints, and giving Go Alpha/Bravo/Charlie/Delta codes or telling a Sniper to go Hot and hearing that BOOM with a "Target down" follow up. I'm getting an erection as I type this.
And, hell, although the planning map and various key presses really do need a mouse and keyboard to get 100% out of it I think with the trend of radial menus you can get around that for the subsequently dumbed down console versions.
Man, I hated Vegas.
Personally, I think the series peaked at Rogue Spear. I'd love to be proven wrong.
Yea dude the problem with that is the old Rainbow Six games was that they were so hardcore and so niche compared to RS3 and Vegas. The same can be said, to a lesser extend, about Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. I highly doubt those series will ever go back to that.
Looks like a more individualistic conflict, unlike Call of Duty which was more all over the world. I kinda like the idea of being isolated to one major location, one major conflict, and continuing after one mysterious, potentially story driven goal. Overall I think this looks really interesting. Count me in so far.
Of all the trailers they had yesterday, only this one and the Star Wars one got me excited. The rest were ho-hum. I was majorly disappointed with the MoH trailer. I was hoping to see a bearded man and crazy action, instead, I saw what I thought was Modern Warfare 2.
