Mac gaming died when Bungie allowed Microsoft to buy them.

I'm afraid I don't see the point of Mac gaming considering they have Bootcamp to run Windows operating systems. Leave the pain out of porting games to Mac and let them just run the PC versions instead.

Exactly. The Linux guys have learned that. It's just too easy to dual-boot Windows and not deal with the hassle/shoddy port.

Especially with Aspyr's layoffs, I'd say Mac gaming is dead.

I love how people try to imply that running a game through Windows is Mac gaming...

It's not, but it's probably the closest they'll ever get.

It doesn't matter what OS it's on if it can run on the computer. Now that macs have the same hardware as PC's, why develop for two software platforms when you can develop for one and it will work on all hardware? Apple has never really made a push or effort to make games for mac, and they just recently started putting half decent graphics cards in all their machines.

Honestly, I think boot camp is the smartest thing apple's done (ipod aside)
Love it or hate it, windows owns the OS industry, and now that all windows software can run on Mac hardware users can buy Macs without worrying about leaving their precious programs behind.

I was surprised when Macs got the Radeon 4870. They finally got a good card. Even though the Radeon 5000 series has been released, it's still relevant.

Unfortunately for Apple, Microsoft still has the corner on computer gaming for a variety of reasons. PCs are the best choice for indie game development where you can get the most horsepower out of the system without having to get permission from the machine maker.
