Who says so? Science says so. Just look at the numbers in this Metacritic round-up of the year's top games and it's pretty obvious that Uncharted 2 is the best. Also, according to math, the PS3 is better than the 360. This isn't us or even Metacritic saying it, people, these are innocent, irrefutable numbers.
In all seriousness, while Metacritic has collected some interesting, worthwhile data in its report, we're not sure what the point is in trying to pick the best system or game of 2009 just going by statistics. We've relied on numbers just to help us organize our annual Game of the Year selection, and even so, just look how much damage they were still capable of.

Uncharted 2 will get number 2. It's only fitting. Oh well. Only thing I can see matching up to Uncharted 2's greatness is City Bus Simulator '10. Bitchin.

ODST's main problem was that all the reviews hit on it for 'not being worth 60'. That was the primary complaint.

ODST wasn't worth 60, but at least it's actually sorta good. Better than Halo 2 and 3, that's for damn sure.
L4D2 was not only not worth 60, it's actually somehow worse than the first.

ODST's campaign was really quite good, IMO. Firefight was a mistake, because it didn't have matchmaking.

I kind of hate Master Chief, actually. His moonjumping, near-invincibility, and lack of personality are why I don't like most of the Halos.
I thought the parts of ODST where you're wandering the city with the quiet score and night vision on were incredibly well-done. Then it thrusts you into MICHAEL BAY ACTION HOOAH in the flashbacks and ugh. Plus, though the night vision is a very cool effect, you never really have to use it.

That actually had me in stitches, because that's why I haven't taken to it. Not to mention the fact that I don't really feel like Halo has changed much, yeah it has certainly developed, but once I've played something original (aka Halo 1) if it keeps being done, it looses the originality and becomes repetitive, which is how I felt about Halos after that. It just felt like I was going up against the same old opponents, with the same guns, doing the same missions and seeing the same scenery. Kudos to the fact it was fun none-the-less as I played, but it doesn't change the fact that I can't say it grips me, nor will any of the sequels be as memorable to me as the first time I played co-op on Halo 1 and completed it with my brother.

I don't think it should be game of the year.
The voice acting sucked!
The fact you have to hit x every time you climb any thing.
The long climbing sections of the game sucks because of that.
Graphics were good but not the best I have seen.
The water effects are WAY out dated.
The sewer scene were they are walking in the water.
The water did not move! and only a tiny splash popped up.
With all the other competition this year.
I just don't think Uncharted 2 is GOTY.

I'm gonna start this by saying I've always enjoyed the halo games but haven't been a huge fan. The thing I don't like about ODST, aside from the price, is the "moody" aspect of the game. I feel like I should feel like it's great that Bunjie is doing something different with the franchise instead of keeping it all master chief and ridiculous action, and it should be refreshing or whatever, but it wasn't. It was missing something. There's a kind of goofiness in previous halo games. You can run out like an idiot blasting and then hide in a corner, everything was bright and green and purple. When a grenade kills you, you fly hundreds of feet away. Grunts are always really animated and comical.
None of that really came over in ODST. It was all quiet and serious, the levels were dark and grey, and when a grenade killed you you would just fall over and die.
None of that effected actual gameplay, which was fine. It played like halo. It just didn't feel like halo, and I had a lot less fun with it because of that. There are plenty of other games that pull off the dark moody atmosphere. I liked Halo being ridiculous and bright.

Probably, but personally, I played and beat quite a few games this year and Uncharted 2 WAS the best. I will also say that although it was the best all around game I think that Demon's Souls is also amazing. I will say its hands down the best action-RPG I've ever played and every boss is so epic everyone should play it.

I agree it's a travesty it's not even in the running.
