Try playing it. Do you think reviewers gave it 100's, and Spike awarded it Game of the Year for giggles?

This is a really horrible attempt at trolling. Yes, i do not have a thirst for games because I have a 360, and since my hunger was sated already, that should prove to you even more why Uncharted 2 is great, because I put even more in my already spilling over glass just for it

I think Uncharted 2 should be game of the year. There were no reviews, people, Metacritic, or numbers to influence my decision, just the fact that I had such a blast playing it.

In terms of computer science Uncharted 2 was leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else this year. Those vehicle scenes were amazing.

Metacritic listed PS3 as system of the year because it had 10 games with a score above 90, compared to the 360 which only had 7. On the surface, it appears that the PS3 won, however only Uncharted 2 the only PS3-exclusive new game. The other PS3-exclusive games were Braid and God of War Collection. Braid came out last year for the 360, so it isn't really fair to use, and God of War Collection is just a rehash of a PS2 game. That leaves the PS3 with 8 to the 360's 7, which just shows that both systems are equally strong.

Well Uncharted 2 is the best game out. The story and the game play is unbeaten this year. The animation, the graphics and the voice actors are the best of the best this year.

True that Pybro, U2 story is great, and graphics are the best. People brag about the multiplayer, but really its a rip off from gears of war. The gameplay from U2 is very averge...u cant even melee and move at the same time. The multiplayer is defintly for the casual gamer and its funny how ps3 fanboys brag about this year being so great but this was like the only year to actually own one. You can only expect things to go down from here though...xbox releases Halo Reach...series that made shooters what they are today. Splinter cell, Fable 3, Crackdown, Alan wake,Possibly Gears, Natal( which has many exclusives from companies like rare and blizzard)

The online in Uncharted 2 isn't really a Gears rip-off. It's a lot more run-n-gun, and most of the gamemodes are very different from Gears. Hell, Gears doesn't even have team death match, it's all elimination gametypes.(and KOTH) I think the multiplayer in Uncharted 2 is it's own beast, and it's a pretty good game to play online, even if it's not as great as other titles.

You can melee and move at the same time in single player, just not in multiplayer, and for a good reason - melees take away more than half of your health. And Uncharted 2 is definitely not a rip off of Gears of War. Having played both I can say Uncharted 2 is way better - just my opinion but I'm sure plenty would agree. The multiplayer can get really competitive too, it's not just for casuals, and the game play is the farthest from average. You would know if you've played it, which by the looks of it, you haven't.

As for the PS3, it will only get better, with more exclusives than I can remember.

I think it's time for you to move out of that rock, PS3 is the future.

Uncharted 2 was pretty awesome, story was great, but to be honest I got a little tired of every bad guy being dressed in either gray or black and taking 2-3 clips of ammo to kill.

You know if there's one game this year I went out of my way to recommend to people it was Batman: Arkham Asylum. It just did everything right and felt rather fresh, even if it was basically Dead Space meets MGS4 meets God of War. Like that's a bad thing.

Killzone 2 was my personal GOTY. It was an innovative shoot that not only took tactical thought, but also skill and teamwork. A much better title than Camp of Camp: Camp Camp 2.

Couldnt agree with you more, LZ2 was just so tactical, basically if you dont se your teammates around you you are dead. And the way it is structured there is almost no camping, there is always a way around a choke point. Hated CoD:MW2, its all about reflexes and camping really

Uncharted 2 is easily the best PS3 exclusive title, but despite what metacritic says, is it truly the best game of 2009?

COD MW2 will easily be the most purchased game of 2009 - so shouldn't it win? It will also garner the most play time online... that's another factor to look at.

So, what's more important, sales or ratings?

Then with solid games like Resident Evil 5 and Batman: Arkham Asylum available, I don't know if I could rank any of these 4 games above/below each other.

Then you gotta look at Metroid Prime: Trilogy - sure, it's a compliation of 3 older titles (with the first 2 reworked slightly to feel more Wii like), but they are among the greatest "First Person" games of all time! Of course, neither of the 3 are the GREATEST - that feat goes to Duke Nukem 3D, which coincidently was re-released on XBLA this year... maybe it should be in the GOTY running too!

In my opinion the best classification for a GOTY game is neither sales nor ratings, but the overall impact that game caused.

A game that makes everyone say "oh snap" and talk about it, a game that when you think back of 2009 in 10 years from now you will remember.

That's a game of the year, again, in my opinion.

and just for the record steven i played U2 and beat it...i own all consoles. U2 multiplayer is like gears(gears has way more modes fyi carmael zapper sorry it doesnt have respawns for you lol)...but gears is at a much faster pass of play. Basics are the same 3rd person cover system, action shooter...if u actually played multiplayers games you would quickly relize that U2 muiltplayer is average at best.

I haven't bought Spirit Tracks yet, but I'm pretty sure my GOTY will be Rhythm Heaven. That was the game I had the most fun with all year, even thought I suck terribly at it. After that would be Tokyo Beat Down, NSMBW and Professor Layton.

Of course, I have a stack of games between the Wii, 360 and DS that I haven't even opened yet...

EL OH EL!! I know right Ashitaka.. Its crazy, its like I have personal taste or something! Whats wrong with me?

I should probability watch more spike tv so I can get my tastes more inline with the vocal 18-24 year old male crowd. The video game equivalent of
people who's music taste only goes as far as whats in the top 40 radio list.

These goty year lists are always such fucking bore fests. No matter who dose them.

2. You're sooo cool and underground for liking a game that nobody deems worthy of being goty.
3. Liking Uncharted 2 has got nothing to do with watching spike tv or only listening to the top 40 radio list.

"Liking Uncharted 2 has got nothing to do with watching spike tv or only listening to the top 40 radio list."

You're right, liking uncharted 2 has nothing to do with watching spike tv or listening to the top 40 radio list, but GOTY lists do.

Little King's Story isn't an obscure choice of being named GOTY considering that it's a great game...

...but has an RTS ever been a GOTY?
...technically LKS is considered an RTS, just a different style of it (Pikmin style).

You used up your "lol"s for this year and if I recall correctly, the internet already advanced you most of next year's too.

Your not allowed to post anymore until next year.

The games are probably the only thing keeping my ps3 in use. Sony definitely has proven they don't know how to do anything with the hardware: why are we still waiting for cross game chat and why is the custom soundtrack only available for a half dozen games? In the meantime we get useless crap like trophies and facebook apps.

In fact, the only reason I don't have a 360 instead is because they're prone to spontaneous combustion and they charge for online; something sony plans on doing too even though they haven't earned it. Great choices we got this generation, eh? I hope onlive pulls through.

That's right, I'm ranking on both consoles.
