The first piece of information to come out of Team Fortress 2's "War" update for the Soldier and Demoman classes is a savory one -- according to the game's official blog, players of the PC version of the game will now be able to craft their own weapons, hats and other inventory items. Formerly useless pieces of loot in a player's collection can now be combined using a specific blueprint, resulting in a brand new, much more desirable piece of equipment.
So, frequent updates, personal inventories, multiple classes and a crafting system? Seriously, this game is like, a couple dragons short of becoming the next big MMORPG.

@TonyTheTiger831: I don't understand people like you. Valve has stated time and time again that they can't make an update for TF2 for the Xbox. They don't have enough memory and can't work around Microsoft's restrictions. Don't you think that if Valve could make even MORE money by releasing DLC and having more people buy and play their game, they would?
Why do you think L4D2 was the fastest sequel Valve has ever made and not just DLC? Because they knew they had a large install base on the Xbox and couldn't just ignore them and release the content for free on the PC. At least they've learned from the past.

Finally, I might actually get a hat that isn't the Ghastly gibus, Bill's hat, and the Cheater's lament.
TF2 has to be the best multiplayer shooter out there (on the PC at least)

I only have those hats too. I like the idea of crafting but I don't know how long it will keep me interested.

We have been here before. It is Microsoft's fault that there are not any new TF2 updates on the 360.

Ok, but what about on the PS3? EA's fault?

Why do you downvote poor Bigwillie? All he wants is an update. I swear, some (most) PC gamers are just about the worst people in the world.

what i meant was that i want the update on xbox, i have it already and i enjoy it greatly but i just cant afford a computer to play heavy games. besides its kinda unfair that pc gets all the good stuff, but i blame it on microsoft for not letting valve do whatever they want with their games (or so i assume)

It's really awesome that they're supporting a game so long after release with such major content...
But... this stuff is... odd... I don't know, it just don't seem right.

It's a huge upgrade from the broken inventory system we have now. Right now you get random weapon drops, including weapons you already have. It's been 6 months since the spy vs sniper update and I still haven't gotten all of the new weapons, but I have plenty of doubles and triples of weapons I don't use. Now that I can put those to use and get the stuff I'm missing, I'm happy, regarless of how wonky of a system it is.

Yea, I noticed the drop rate increase too. I didn't get the ambassador until yesterday, though. The only item I don't have currently is the snipers shield, so I'm not really in a rush to achievement farm it. I just don't want to be playing TF2 6 months from now and not have whatever ultra special weapon the demo or soldier wins.

What I want now is a Saxton Hale class. He just randomly jumps into the battle, killing everyone with his bare hands. He'd be controlled by a random player, who would get the message "You will become Saxton Hale" His only weapons would be his fists, and steak.

And yet people tried to boycott a company that's doing so many PC gamers right. I have no sympathy for those idiots.

It has to do with his character, being Scottish. But yea, not really his class. I thought the snipers shield and bow were off but this tops it.
