"You'll never make anything of your life just sitting around playing video games!"
You've heard this tired speech from your mom and dad so many times you could recite it from memory, but you can't help but smile whenever they repeat it. Because deep down in your heart, you know that as one of the 300,000-plus people playing the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta, you've helped rack up 1.01 million headshots, destroyed 380,000 houses and been responsible for more than 45 million kills. That, friends, is something real.
So next time your parents hassle you about some benign chore, just hold your head up high and say, "Sorry I didn't lock the wheels on the baby's walker, Mom and Dad. I was a little busy making a difference."

A couple of questions to the beta players:
1. Is friendly fire on all the time or can it be turned off? (Via the host or certain game modes for example).
2. Is the gold crate game mode still in the game?

#1 its not on in the beta as we cant make our own games
#2 no, theres no gold but the game mode in the beta is essentially the same thing except the gold is just called a communications device or something

Awesome game, I'm loving the beta, I used to not like these games cause I got bored of them, but I haven't played BC1, but after playing this, I feel like going out to get BC1, but then it does come out in a couple of months I'm just going to wait for BC2 to come out.
I got 15 kills in a row without dying YAHH! I love the realism to the game.

I agree with you on every word, the realism of the sounds and even the vibration of the controller every time you shoot in the thank is really good.
My only complain is that I don't like the fact that enemies can get to your spawn spot and get a hold of the tanks/uav, I hate that.

Loved the first one, can't wait for this one. I still play Bad Company, from time to time, as well as Killzone 2 and R2, but it'll be nice to finally have a new FPS to play online, on my own and hopefully in co-op, that's worth a purchase.
Most FPS games that came out in the later half of this year were weak, uninteresting or just plain sucked.

Is the beta over now? I really liked the beta but I didn't have much time to play it... unless its still going..

I would play this, but the beta's only on PSN and that would probably sour my experience. The game looks good, though.

Sorry but the PS3's sticks are awful for shooters. Get over yourself and admit it.

I... Didn't say you did? I just don't like using it for shooters. I'm not entirely certain why that's taken as a knock against the game or really even the controller. It's just better at other things. The 360 controller is worse for certain things too.

Yeah the 360 controller is about as useful as a wooden mallet when it comes to playing anything with the D-pad. The sixaxis isn't perfect, but it's no excuse to avoid the PS3. 27 million people can't be pissed that the controller has convex analog sticks.
If you're a really good boy, maybe Santy Claus will bring you one for Christmas. Then you can finally play the console with the world's best exclusives and play online for free.*
*may cause disappointment that thousands of kids aren't singing into mics.
