DTH does really good stuff. Their Halo 3 Mythbusters series is really fun to watch as well.

Also, those noobtube shots are incredible.

I wonder how close you have to be to the hydrant to get killed by it. I've seen a lot of 'sploding hydrants in the game but never been hurt by one or seen anyone else killed by one.

Is shooting a hydrant near a guy in cover a viable strategy?

Wow...if I wasn't worried my 360 is going to die any day now, I'd actually test some of these.

These are legit, right?

Because my 360 was running fine before hand. Please note, this isn't a RRoD joke, my disc drive control module for the laser is dying. That's going to cost a lot to fix, and seeing as it's already ruined my CoD4 disc, I'm afraid to run any games that aren't already installed on the HDD.

It's a 2006 unit, completely rebuilt in 2008 with the 'reliable' BenQ drive. That drive has been the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen. I know all the repair guys say it's the best version, but my old Hitachi (supposedly the 'worst') never scratched a disc.

I feel you, Darth, and I up-vote you. My 360 E-74'ed not more than an hour ago during my first MW2 game today... killed one guy, then my screen was overtaken by vertical bars. Restarted the console, and it crapped out.

I'd love to try these things out as well, but oh well. Maybe early 2010 after it gets repaired.

I think the worst part is, between the new power brick I had to get, and the cost of a drive repair, it would have been cheaper to buy that Arcade Wal-Mart sold for 100.

Microsoft, I love your games, and I love the Xbox...but you've got to fix these damn quality control problems.

That's the thing, they make a system that so many people love, that some of us have put up with their build quality problems. The same went for the PS2 last generation where I had two have their DVD drives crap out on me but I couldn't bear to switch to the Xbox nor Gamecube because of the PS2's game library. That time, I was lucky to purchase it from Costco and I will for my next console purchase, I can't trust the darn things anymore where I can at least repair my own PC without sending it out and I've never had a hardware issue with it, only software and rarely at that.

Yeah my brother went out and bought an Arcade unit when his got a RROD last Christmas. Even though he was getting a refurbished model he went ahead and got another one because it was so cheap and he saw my experience with refurbished 360's from MS. Thats some crazy shit right there. Every time I talk about the amount of hardware failures I had with my launch model 360 I get called a liar and a Sony fanboy who never owned a 360 so I don't even talk about it anymore. I sold it about this time last year and until they do a redesigned 360 I won't buy another one. Haven't looked back since but I'd love to get one for exclusives and offline games i.e. mass effect, alan wake & splinter cell. Still got the big gun from the lancer edition gears 2 I picked up last year. It was the last 360 game I bought ... love me some horde mode.

I've been called a Sony fanboy quite often as well. Seems that the uberfanboys are still in denial that the 360 is a piece of shit, reliability wise. My friend bought his in Feb of 06 and just sent it in for the fourth time (oddly, they told him he had an additional three-year warranty extention, don't know what's up with that). I don't want to reward Microsoft with more money for a crappy console, so I may look at a good used model.

Thats the conundrum when you go to sell any of these consoles. I took a big hit on mine (had the hdd, wi-fi, year of live, vision cam, halo controller, 15 xbla games, custom faceplates and maybe 15 retail games) but I figured it was better to sell it since I basically started to loathe the site of it because of all the problems. I figured why have something I'm afraid to use or don't want to use ... so I sold everything to a buddy for like $500 bones.

I can handle being called a Sony fanboy because I can see how I come off that way sometimes. The thing is that I bought my 360 at launch after waiting in the freezing cold and didn't even buy the PS3 right at launch. I was more interested in finding a Wii at that time and ended up getting a PS3 when I couldn't find one. I really started playing the PS3 more out of necessity and just became disenchanted with the 360 after so many problems. Last generation the 'cube was my favorite and most used console. I had a PS2 but the amount of games was like 3:1 in favor of the 'cube. Just sort of the way it worked out this time around. I always tell people that I became a fan of the PS3 because of the 360. Even if I showed people proof of all my hardware issues with the 360 they'd still call me a liar. Whatever ... contrary to popular belief I think (like you) that the 360 has some good stuff going for it but I already have a healthy disdain for MS and the constant problems didn't help things. I'll never forget one of the last times I got my 360 console back from repair and I go to fire it up and it wouldn't read anything because of incorrect region coding. Had to send it back again and I was just thinking "what the fuck is wrong with these people?" ... I know I had really, really, really bad luck with the 360 (7) compared to most other people but that didn't help ease my mind or anything.

That's the thing. I had a 360 from July of 2007, and never even considered buying a PS3. Then, when my Xbox died in September 08 (two days before the Halo 3 anniversary), I shipped it off, unhappily, and realized that it would be nice if I had another platform to play modern games on. I'd heard a lot about Little Big Planet, and between that and a few other games, decided 'why the hell not' and bought one for Christmas. Haven't looked back. I still use my 360 for the exclusives and the occasional multi-platform, but for the most part I use the PS3. I'd rather use the console I can trust not to break from normal use, and I just prefer the system a whole lot more.

This is why complete digital distribution is a BAD idea. Having the option to have disc based media means that whatever happens the console, you still can retain something of value.

Well, first, as I said, it's ruined my copy of Call of Duty 4, so that's not an option. Second, I can't install them all (60GB is no where big enough for my games), third, the laser keeps randomly digging into my discs. I don't want to screw up another disc. (Yes, I've tried both vertical and horizontal orientations, and yes, the console is in a secure location.)

I'll probably get downvoted for saying this as everyone is a GameStop hater but honestly, if u don't want to ever have to worry about your system again, just trade it at GS and if you can get it to work when you trade it, they'll take it. I've done this for a few of my friends at the GS I work at.The price is universal at all GameStops so you'll get $70 for it. Ask them to check the power supply of the ones they have in used and if it says 12.1v, then its odds of breaking are like 1 in 100. Those used systems are $140 and is half off with that trade-in. You don't have to trade in your hard drive or anything either so I'm just sayin, if you don't want to spend much money on iffy repairs and shit, do this. Also it's best to ask about the system AFTER they test it and give you the trade price. When I hear people saying they want to trade in a "working" 360 for another one, I defect their "working" 360.

I could do it but I'll abstain ...

IW is so full of fail it's not even funny. I guess the success of the first MW got to their heads and has given them a case of douchebaggery ... that or Kodick is rubbing off on them in a bad way. It really permeated through all the interviews prior to the release of the second iteration but the post release behavior is beyond deplorable and is bordering on inane and foolhardy. It's like they are playing chicken to the death with their own fans.

Nice links... but I don't think 402 is a douche at all. He has clearly stated what was necessary. The people who needs to fix shit are aware of shit happening... twitter will update as soon as shit gets fixed. This is the role of a mod...the powers to do this role are in place....know your role and shut your mouth. I don't know...anyone that can't take that for face value is too far gone. He thanked people for their time and lets them know that some are taking something thats not supposed to be as serious, too seriouly. IW doesn't expect you to give time and blood to their forums..if you do, thanks...but don't get in a hissy-fit if you expect IW to care for your time and blood.
