First I'm hearing of this game but the screenshots look promising, like a Borderlands/Fallout hybrid.

Point is, can't go wrong with more apocalyptica.

What's with the hostility? Is it so unimaginable that of the hundreds of blog posts I peruse throughout the day/week that a few might have slipped my notice?

Asshats like you are why I facepalm myself hourly on this site.

You are aware that Bethesda's horse armor practically pioneered DLC, right?

Can't wait. One of my most hyped games ever. This is id's first new IP in years! And it looks so promising so far.

I hope they make a new fallout with Ids new engine. Hell they can even remake any of the old ones for all I care, as long as the animations are better this time around.

And I'm sure ALL $50 of it was necessary to enjoy the original experience, thus FORCING you to spend your $50 on it, no?

Wait, you mean it was truly optional, and only added upon the experience that people already loved? Get out of the city, Cousin Larry! Thats blasphemy talk!

Wow, those clouds have to be the most realistic looking that I've ever seen in a game. Looks beautiful. This looks like it could be interesting. And yeah, hopefully bethesda will hurry up and work on the Elder Scrolls 5 and Fallout 4 sometime soon. Maybe this time they'll do a little bit of bug testing. I love their games and the gameplay and imersiveness of them but damn the bugs are everywhere!

That's what most DLC is.

But you could argue that Broken Steel was pretty necessary to get the full enjoyment out of the game.

Well that makes sense considering bethesda owns id now. Why would they share with another publisher?

I'm hoping this game ends up being really good. When was the last time id made a truly great game? Quake III? RTOC? It's been a while. Rage gives me hope, though.

It's just a publisher change, id is the developer and nothings changing on the development side. id has gone on record saying before that in a lot of ways the PS3 version will be slightly better than the 360 version, due to less compression and being able to fit the material all in one disc. However, the idea behind the ID Tech 5 that rage is essentially a tech demo for is that they can develop for PC, 360, and PS3 simultaneously and more or less have an equal version of the game on each platform. A change in publisher isn't going to change that.

Considering how EA UK took care of The Orange Box, there's no guarantee it would have been stellar there either..

linebeginstoblur,

There's a huge difference there. Again, id is the developer of all three versions of Rage, so the publisher has NOTHING to do with the quality of the game.

EA actually DEVELOPED the ps3 port of the orange box. They didn't just publish it. That's why there was such a huge difference between the 360 and PC versions vs the PS3 version. Rage is an entirely different situation.

Well, it was going to be published under the EA Partners program, which as far as I can tell doesn't interfere with a game's development, only publishing. I can't say that for sure, though.

Other EA Partners releases, for reference: L4D, Rock Band, Brutal Legend

I guess that means Rage must suck since Bethesda's most recent publishing pickups were Wet and Rogue Warrior. :(

This isn't just a "publishing pickup" though, bethesda bought id software a while ago, they just don't want another publisher in the mix.

This looks like more classic id fun. Nothing groundbreaking, except for the engine... but it looks like lots of fun!

The gameplay shown at quakecon made me a believer.

As long as I don't have to pay $7 for an item box via first day DLC (Dragon Age), I'm happy.

Well that's one step in the right direction.

But let's see whether or not they'll screw over their core PC fanbase by removing the possibility for dedicated servers, before it warrant a purchase...
