different indeed....no MW2 means MS wouldn't have moved nearly as many units if not for that....and they wouldnt have gotten that revenue off the games sales

Yeah, no shit. That game saved Microsoft's ass in November. I'm glad Greenberg at least had the balls to semi-admit that,

I'm sure if MW2 didn't come out in November, Microsoft would have released ODST in November which would have "saved Microsoft's ass".

Left 4 Dead 2? Assassins Creed 2?

You honestly thought that MW2 was the only thing that would save MS?

So a game that's sold 5 million+ copies would have impacted sales if it wasn't present? Man, you can't slip ANYTHING by these guys.

Duh

Can you imaging playing this game on a PS3 controller?

Microsoft should give a big 2009 hug to Infinity Ward and their controller development team.

Are you Serious? There is NOTHING wrong with the PS3 controller or 360 (Except for the d-pad). The game plays perfect for me.

I have my own pet peevs about the dualshock, but there's nothing really wrong with it. It plays MW2 or any other game just fine.

My personal preference is better than your personal preference. I'll prove it with anecdotal evidence!

Now lets have a 3 page discussion on which controller is better for each game genre.

I own both systems and for the love of everything that is holy whenever I play an FPS on the Dualshock my index fingers slip off of the triggers. It ruined Killzone 2 for me.

I am pretty sure its playable but if you own both systems there is not a better feel than the 360 controller for a game like MW2. Unless you are a cheap ass and let your XBL sub expire want to get your game on even though you spent $35 on the Drag me to Hell Blue Ray movie and then bitch about $3.50 a month for an XBL sub.

I played world at war on ps3 (it was the only version blockbuster had when I went). The controls were ok, certainly not unplayable...but it's just not the same playing shooters on anything other than a 360 controller. It felt almost as alien as mouse + keyboard.

Those are pretty sweet thanks!

So no Sony fangirls get butthurt I would like to add that the Dualshock felt beautifully when I finished Uncharted. For certain games I do prefer the dualshock. Adventure games mainly.

Last I checked, by default KZ2 and pretty much all PS3 shooters use the bumpers, not the triggers, to fire. Non-issue. The triggers are usually assigned to something like reload that you just have to tap, so it doesn't really matter that the triggers are slippery.

Tmac, you've got to engage Default Flipped controls, to remap fire and iron sights to L2 and R2, then it feels like a 360 pad.

I've had my Real Triggers for about eight months, love them. They're built just for that purpose.

I picked up the "Real Triggers" for my DS3 and they work quite well. They also keep my damn movies from fast forwarding or rewinding when I set the damn controller down. But the DS3 as a whole is definitely not as good when it comes to gaming as the 360 controller.

The lack of triggers on the PS3 controller makes playing shooters feel kind of strange, at least compared to the 360's. I generally buy mulitplayer games on the Xbox over the PS3 due to the better online support and better controller for shooters.

I could if keyboard+mouse didn't suck so hard. Whoever thinks that's the best control method is stupid as hell.

@tmac

Just because you suck at it, doesn't mean it sucks. The most skilled player with a keyboard and mouse could take down the most skilled player with an analog stick any day of the week.

Turn on Halo, turn the sensitivity up all the way. How fast can you turn around 360 degrees? It's fast, but it still takes a noticeable amount of time. Do the same thing with a quality gaming mouse at the highest dpi settings with the highest sensitivity in anything, say CSS. I can guarantee you it will be faster with a mouse. Almost instant. The mouse is always faster. On top of that, it's also a lot more accurate. Maybe you're disoriented when you use m/kb, because you're too used to analog control, but that doesn't make it bad control method. It makes you bad at using it.

I have this controller: http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Wireless-Controller-Rumble-Playstation-3/dp/B001RNOQLS which is basically a 360 inspired PS3 controller. It doesn't have the indented nubs but other than it's solid.

But, I like the DS3 because I have this weird condition where my thumbs are symmetrical and so the location of the nubs feels more natural then off setting them like the 360 controller. I never really had issues with either of them but still don't understand the hate on the DS3.

If you like the mouse and keyboard controls then oh boy is there something for you: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/FragFX+-+Splitfish+Gameware+-+FragFX+v.2+Controller+for+PlayStation+3/9337112.p?id=1218097985512&skuId=9337112 they carry them in store at best buy as well and ppl I know that got one have been telling me it gets no better.

Anyone with a few brain cells knows that M+KB is the most accurate for FPSs. Now if you were raised on a gamepad then obviously its foreign but it's more fluid and precise.

The fragfx is interesting, but too expensive and not a perfect implementation.

The problem is that the mouse only emulates the right analog stick, so the input, though more precise, is still analog. It ends up seeming a bit laggy and has the effect of "mouse acceleration" Still a lot better than a gamepad, but not ideal, and overpriced. It just really bothers me that Sony lets the developers use proper usb mouse and keyboard input, but no one supports it. If say, MW2 supported KB/M support on the PS3, that's the version I would buy without a doubt.

And as for your hands being symmetrical, that's exactly why I like the 360 controller better. Pretty much any game aside from shooters or katamari has you using a combination of the right stick and face buttons at the same time. So on the 360 controller your thumbs are symmetrical playing those games. On the PS3, playing say, god of war, you have one thumb down to the side and the other up on the face buttons. Not ideal.

Why hasn't Joystiq written anything about the problems MW2 is having on 360 right now? No article about the Infinite Ammo glitch or about being pushed into a Private match that is ranked.

May I suggest the first MW title?

Except the game really isn't "one big glitch" anymore than Halo's multiplayer is a "massive pile of malfunctioning shit".
