It seems that, even though you're in the middle of a war and hacking up thousands of monsters, the game's been approved for kids because your avatar has big feet.
New trailer reminds us that LOTR: Aragorn's Quest exists

How do you know? He might have been a massive gamer were he still alive.

You should read a biography on Tolkien sometime That Guy. Outside of Middle Earth, Tolkien was pretty much the Pope's lap dog. Not that that's a bad thing, mind, he just wasn't very "fun."
This game doesn't seem to have any legs. It's not serious in it's attempt to tell the story of Aragorn, to tell the story of The Lord of the Rings, or even to be a deep action RPG. It's practically a LEGO game without the LEGO Bricks. I think I'll still try and play it though, I'm such an LOTR fanboy.

Then this of all the LOTR games would probably be the one he'd like the most, or hate the least.

If Tolkien were alive today he would have never even written the books due to his crippling addiction to world of warcraft.

Hopefully they can actually make this one decent.

C'mon. Calling that hacking up monsters is like saying some guy doing interpretive dance is doing the cabbage patch. While you are in the same neighborhood, there is no fucking way the two will be confused.
What you are doing is bludgeoning monsters with a sharp looking glow stick that can't break skin.

Aww, I want to play as Gandalf. (Insert... er... bad word? .. pointy-hat-trick reference here.) Is that only for player 2? I suppose we need to wait for 'Gandalf's Quest'... (and Legolas's Quest... mmmm....)
Have to say, I'm not sure I will actually get the game - especially assuming it doesn't have Motion Plus support. Swordfighting game without Motion Plus would seem like a really, really bad idea in this day and age. (Even if it only uses M+ to *correctly* select one of a handful of gestures, at least it's more likely to work than without it...)

"I fell almost insulted when a company makes a PS2 game anymore. Seriously people? Can't we move on now?"
That's what you get when people keep buying the PS2, Sony keeps making the PS2, and says they have plans to keep it going. People will probably still be making PS3 games ten years after the next Sony system comes out.

Well I don't think anyone would be buying a Playstation 4 or Xbox 720 game at this stage.

Yeah, they really went all out with the budget on this game with all of its last gen graphics systems.

I have a feeling they wanted to make it for the Wii, and then said, "hey, why not the ps2 as well?" The PS2's lifespan has been extended by the Wii so far, and it is really dragging the Wii down.

Who are they targeting with this game? Its hard to say its for kids since you are pretty much hackin and slashing but it looks to kiddish for adults to be interested.
I would have rather they gone back and do a proper update on the previous LoTR games on the PS2/Xbox and have online co-op mode also with update HiDef graphics.
This just smells of failure. A real shame the LoTR franchise deserves better than this.

Really? Adults buy Mario games and Zelda games and Little Big Planet games and Banjo games etc. I don't think this looks any more "kiddish" than any of them. It even lacks the color of those games. Doesn't gray make a game mature?

It doesn't look too bad. I'll probably get it both because it is LOTR and it'll bide me over until the next Zelda.
Talking about Zelda, was anyone else disappointed when with the artwork before Twilight Princess it implied there'd be massive battles with creatures chasing Link (when was only a small bandit of goblins on massive boars). It'd be great if they made a Zelda (or any game tbh) where you were one small part of a hugely massive war in Hyrule, culminating in an all out battle between the two sides in the middle of Hyrule field, or a siege of Hyrule castle.

Why would that be great? Seems like it would just be a giant mess having an entire war going on around you.

Wouldn't that be Dynasty Warriors - Zelda Edition?
Zelda is not really about war so I think I'll prefer if they don't do that. (LoTR obviously is.) I wouldn't mind a serious fantasy game - not Zelda - with that kind of theme though. It would probably be better suited to the HD consoles (and I say that despite not having one) since it may be hard to show an 'epic' battle - with very many characters onscreen - on Wii.
Your idea could be pretty great - it would be cool if, as some small part of a plot (not really the whole thing a la dynasty warriors) you could be fighting through individual little skirmishes in the middle of a massive battle on your way to escape or something like that. I.e. the massive battle is really just background, you're mainly fighting against a half-dozen or so at a time... hmm maybe that means they *could* do it on Wii...

This game looks interesting to me... graphics don't look that bad, but I will wait to read-up on the reviews before picking it up. Particularly, I'm interested to know if it has multiplayer capability on the PSP as it may be fun to play through it with my wife.
