Makes sense. They had mostly elemental stages last time, this time they're going a bit off the beaten path. Take Megaman 9 as analogous to 2, and 10 as analogous to 3

Also, why is this only listed under Xbox and Playstation?

Though it is odd not to see a Nintendo tag up there. I'll be getting my copy on the Wii no doubt.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's first thought went to cowbell after that intro. I was completely expecting a spoof film. Was honestly a little let down by the lack of hilarity ensuing.

Agreed. I'm down with retro gaming, and I love megaman, but why can't they make it look good and still be retro? I'm pretty sure we've moved onto greater consoles for a reason.

I just don't have the chops for these ultra-hard platformers any more. I grew up destroying games like Contra, Battletoads, Megaman titles, castlevania, ninja gaiden; I could play the hard stuff when I was a kid. This is stuff that I clearly could have handled at 12-15, but now that I'm twice that age, man, it kicks my butt.

First, I was getting almost nowhere in MM9 until I figured out that you're supposed to max out your E-tank and just power through boss fights (none of the bosses seemed vulnerable to the guns I had access to anyway), then I got to wiley's lair, and like 2 days later I still hadn't beaten the first section of it. If I end up getting this game, it will be all about the easy mode.

I was better at it back then too....but now I can't even make it to the bosses.....

I mean sure back then I had to use the game genie to COMPLETELY beat the game but at least I beat a few of the bosses without using it...

Man, I hear that! The benefit of NES was that controllers were built more solid and were cheaper to replace. I can't play games that are so hard, I get really angry with the repetition. As an adult, my time is much shorter, so easy or normal is about as challenging as I want to play. Gaming needs to remain fun and not become a frustrating chore. I have plenty of those already.

well I run thru MOST games on the Hardest difficulty I can on the first play thru and while it makes it slightly more difficult its not usually UNbeatable....just takes a little while longer...MegaMan on the other hand was just an all around asskicking....no matter what I tried...

I'm pissed because it took me a year to beat Splash Woman. Then I sold my old one to upgrade before finding out that MM9 save data couldn't be transferred so I beat Splash Woman again. Then my PS3 Slim got stolen. I don't need anymore Mega Man reboots.

Hopefully this time they'll figure out how to not make it all stretched and blurry on the 360. I enjoyed the game, but was kind of sad that it wasn't all crisp like it is on Wiiware.

Megaman 11: The Rise of Zero?

Nah, It'd be to dark for a Megaman game if it ends with Zero killing everyone. (That is what happened right? I'm a little bit rusty with Megaman history.)

Doubt it.

It's more implied that the "dark energy" from space in Mega Man 8 was part of the basis for what would become the Zero/Maverick/Sigma Virus.

@: bongoes Sector 2814: Sadly Keiji Inafune in the past year said in an interview that Zero was not responsible for the death of the original cast, but considering that...

Protoman was revealed to have a fatal defect in his energy system in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters; Megaman is destined to be kidnapped by a time traveling Dr. Wily, reprogrammed into the Megaman hunter Quint, and killed by his past self (as seen in the gameboy Mega Man 2); and Dr. Light and Dr. Wily are old and human, its no surprise that they are all absent in the future even without Zero killing everyone

Not even MMII without the Game Genie? That was the only one I beat without cheating my way through it first.

1 was brutally hard.
2 was comparatively easy.
3 went right back to being a little bitch.

The only one I could beat in it's day was MM7. I'm a freak, I actually liked that one.
Not until their VC re-re-releases did I manage to Elec-glitch through MM1, use sheer determination to get through MM2, and ultimately give up on MM3 like so many times before.

"Also, delightfully, the trailer includes a bit of the new soundtrack, which is as catchy and series-appropriate as that of its predecessor."

Sorry, the song they used for this trailer doesn't do it for me. I mean, you have a hard time topping Tornado Man's theme when it comes to trailer music.

I couldn't ever beat Mega Man 9. I beat MM2 back in the day, but I just don't have the same level of focus and reflexes that I did back then. Too many turn-based RPGs have dulled my senses. Because of that, I'm actually thankful for the MM10 easy mode, except for one thing. The trailer makes it look patronizingly easy. Like, "oh, you can't keep up with the big boys, little baby? Here, we'll just let you run from left to right until you get to the end, and then you win!"
