After the completion of Persona 4, the team responsible for the game at Atlus split in two, with one half tasked with creating Persona 3 Portable, while the other half got to work on "an original new game." According to a translation by Andriasang of the P3 Portable creator's blog, that first game is "nearing completion," and the two teams will re-form [insert Voltron reference here] in 2010.
Persona 4 producer Katsura Hashino says that the re-unified team will work on "an even bigger title" in the coming year, though no details have been formally announced. We'll just have to giddily think about the impending release of 3D Dot Game Heroes in North America, while we wait for Hashino to dish.

Coming soon to your PS2/PSP.
They just can't seem to move on! They need more money thrown at them.

To be fair they really don't need to anymore than Atlus needed to migrate to the PS3 for Disgaea 3. Sure, it's great to have the space, but they aren't exactly ratcheting up the graphical fidelity. Of course, with the explosion of the PS3 slim they might just have to give up the ghost on the PS2.

FYI, Atlus wasn't involved in making Disgaea 3.

Moving Disgaea 3 to the PS3 was necessary due to hardware requirements. They also wanted to have the ability to add DLC:

I stand corrected. I seem to associate them with any quirky turn based RPG.

As long as it's current gen (PS3/360/WII), I'll be happy. I loved Persona 3/Fes/4 and the remake, but it's time to let the PS2 go.

The Wii? Eww... that would just bring down the versions of the game for the actual consoles. Besides Wii people only buy performers, minigame collections, and rail-shooters in bulk anyways. A fact proven time and time again.

Oh please let it be Persona 5 , Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne 2, or Digital Devil Saga 3. Preferably Persona 5....

I still have to beat Digital Devl Saga 1. I don't think I'll get around to it. Currently playing ME and anxiously awaiting ME2.
It's about time for a new mainline Shin Megami Tensei though. Everything else lately has been a spin-off of sorts.

Out of curiosity, since Raidou is the only SMT series I haven't played, who is Raihou? A female fan version? A similiar character?

Kanji is one of the most interesting characters to come out of a video game. They really did a great job developing him.
In fact, pretty much every character was at the very least interesting. What a great game series.

You'll get your wish in March. SMT Strange Journey was confirmed by the producers to be SMT IV a while ago, and the only reason they didn't call it SMT IV is because it was set in Antarctica.

Great news, I'd love to see P5!
Though if they're only reforming next year, I think this game might not see the light of day till 2011 at least.

Well, it says right after the completion of P4, which in Japan would have been sometime before July of this year, one half of the team started work on the new project, which means that it's at least already been started. So it's purely possible it could do the same as P4 and hit Japan mid-summer and the States 6 or so months later.

I don't want Persona 5, I want Shin Megami Tensei 4.
Persona's all well and good but it seems due to its popularity people seem to forget it's just a sidestory series.
