Rock Band Weekly: Weezer, Yellowcard, Offspring, Limp Bizkit

Beverly Hills ... that's where I want to be (gimme, gimme), living in -- wait, not really. Next week's holiday Rock Band Weekly update has some catchiness, but it's short on cheer. There's a new track pack from Weezer, featuring two songs from the band's latest album, Raditude. There's also songs from Limp Bizkit, The Offspring and Yellowcard.

One last reminder: Rock Band Unplugged DLC is on hiatus until further notice. Check out pricing and track details for the console releases after the break.

Not the greatest Weezer songs they could've chosen, but hey, more Weezer is always good in my book.

I really wish they would've added Can't Stop Partying from Raditude.

A few of the songs from Raditude are OK, but the rest really suck. And the one's that are decent are just kind of meh. And I've been a big Weezer fan since their debut.

I think "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To" is one of their best songs since the Green Album. But the rest of Raditude is kind of weak. It's better than the Red Album though. Though I'd say "Can't Stop Partying" is the worst song they've ever put out.

I completely stopped caring about Weezer after Make Believe. As far as I'm concerned, they broke up after Maladroit.

All of Raditude is bad except for the song they put on Rock Band. I really like that one.

Can't Stop Partying is the worst song Weezer has ever made in their entire career.

hope this is the start for more Limp Bizkit. at least there is some new bands to the mix.

Ha ha.. It's definitely funny, but I can actually get behind all of their first album; and even some of their second. There were some good jams on those discs.

Haha, that's even funnier, Break Stuff was on the second album, not the first. (Yes, I know my music, even sucky music).

Build a Bridge is a very good song; I'd love to see Boiler and anything off Three Dollar Bill or Significant Other.

Did anyone imply that Break Stuff was on the first album? Pretty sure they were just continuing the song that had been initiated.

I second the idea of 3 Dollar Bill Y'all or Significant Other tracks dropping. That'd be great to have 9 Teen 90 Nine, Just Like This, and Pollution pack. Mmmm.

Ooh, Offspring... might have to turn Rock Band on again. It's odd though, I don't recognize that song though... off to Wikipedia!

It's a decent track- a more serious song not unlike "Gone Away" and "Race Against Myself", though it's the weakest of the three.

Validate your arguement--who do you want to see as DLC that you'd be willing to spend money on?

I'm not so interested in nailing you to the cross as I am interested to know what other passionate folk are looking for.

I'm all for new music, but are these really what pass as Rock Bands these days?

let's see... the groups featured this week all play guitars, bass, and organic drums...
yeah, i'd say they pass for Rock bands.

Weezer is alt-rock bordering on pop-rock.
The Offspring is alternative-punk.
Yellowcard is pop-punk to alt-rock.
Limp Bizkit is rap-metal.

I don't deny these are "rock bands" in the loose sense, although they utilize instruments and digital-manipulation not seen in traditional rock bands. I'd just like to see more balance in the DLC.

vidGuy, if "alt-rock," "pop-rock," "alternative," "punk," and "metal" bands (all of which, I think, are subcategorized under the broader aegis of "rock") don't qualify as "true" rock bands, then who does?

Yes, I too would appreciate knowing what bands vidGuy would like to see come to Rock Band. :|

How about Dokken, Whitesnake, White Lion, Bullet Boys, Cult, hell even Trans-Siberiam Orchestra

Dont expect a vidGuy to get music.

Limp Bizkit isn't "Rap metal" btw. Nu-metal. Hate the term all you want, it's what they are.

Then again, now-a-days they're just metal.

All of these genres are sub-genres of "Rock" btw. Punk, pop-punk, alt-rock, country, metal, w/e. All are sub-categories of Rock, and are all bands played on rock stations.

Hey, I didn't say they were shit bands. I have several Offspring albums, listened to Limp Bizkit through Chocolate Starfish, and recently got back into Weezer. But these bands don't scream "rock" to me. I'd just like to see more variety, that's all. To each his own, but needless to say I won't be dropping points on this DLC.

Oh, I see, it's off their latest album "Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace". I guess I didn't pay that much attention to the track listing when I was listening to it in the car. It's a pretty solid album, definitely no "American", but definitely a step in a positive direction.

Can't wait for their 9th studio album in 2010!

Despite the widespread hatred towards them, I understand that a lot of people would download Limp Bizkit tracks for Rock Band...but that song? Really??

Probably the only LB track they could qualify as "Lego Rock Band safe." :P

This is just another step in the wrong direction, they need to put out more classic rock. Weezer's not bad, but the need to release the more deserving bands. I know people want current music, but a believe the classics will sell more.

We need:
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Rush
Rolling Stones
Eagles

I would buy just about any Zep, PF, or Rush album. Now those are some Rock Bands.

While I agree to a point, they wanted this week to be family friendly for Christmas.

Because Rock Band is flooded with classic rock. Variety is your friend.

Some people want to play something that isn't 20+ years old, something that they listened to as a teenager maybe? Crazy isn't it, that not everyone is as old as you and may enjoy getting something that represents them. I mean, hell, that's why you like classic rock, right? It's something you've connected with.

Yes, because obviously it's easy enough to just go to the artist and say "Hey, we're going to put your songs in our game, okay?" Yeah, I'd love me some Zeppelin or Pink Floyd on the game, but I don't see it happening any time soon. And I can guarantee that if Harmonix struck a deal with either of those bands that they'd give them the full game treatment.

Yellowcard! Shame it's just the one song, maybe there will be more in the future.

Well...if lady luck is on our side...and the stars are aligned just right..then my friend, I have to say that this would most likely be it....don't worry I'll keep my fingers crossed that it is....I promise...
