Hmm, I haven't played Tekken in First Person since Tekken 2 :D

Should be interesting to kick someones ass in first person.......on second thought, third person is less limiting, just over the shoulder view should do it. Besides, I want to do a roundhouse kick and actually SEE the glory of my actions.

@Viva La Snake

I don't know about Natal, but the Sony Motion Controller is trying for a release date of Spring 2010.

I could really care less about both of them.

Remember Contra 3? That's a good example of a game where motion control could have been implemented, but was decided that a controller is the best way to go.

Out with motion control, in with good games.

I could care less is applying that there is still some lesser caring left... you're welcome :D

I'm much more interested in the PMC. Natal seems more impressive from a technical standpoint, but the PMC seems more likely to translate over to good gameplay. For example, RE5.

I think Natal has the most potential to do something new with motion control. Imagine if Scribblenauts was on XBLA. You can use the controller to move around but use your voice to create all the objects in the game. Make it happen!

Because he is retarded. Natal isnt needed for voice recognition, that headset that came with your 360 does that just fine.

Even PS2 games had voice recognition

As cool as that sounds, being required to use the natal for that is kinda stupid when we could just use a headset. At this point, I'm very skeptical of how many games will use the natal in any meaningful way.

Natal isn't needed for voice recognition.

But it does help if you want to identify who in the room is talking.

Traveller's Tales makes a bunch of Lego games and the Chronicles of Narnia...why are we taking his opinions as some major revelation?

I mean, I enjoy a good Lego game as much as the next chap, but they aren't exactly pushing technical boundaries as they beat the same blocky, dead horse...are they?

I don't think the company that creates the Lego games has any right whatsoever to comment on the technical quality of anything.

I'm kind of scared for both of these. I hope they implement the strengths of both motion and buttons in their games and don't pull a wii, activating pre-set actions with motion instead of buttons.

There is room for motion in things like aiming, swordplay (1:1 hopefully), and perhaps as a cursor. It should stay away from activating a pre-set; that's button's turf.

Eh, I dunno, with Twilight Princess I enjoyed the waggle your baggle to swing your thing controls. I thought that game was a great example of some cool motion mechanics. I guess you could've just pressed a button to swing the sword, but personally I liked it the way it was. I really like aiming with the IR pointer, going fishing, among a few examples.

I think Sony is going the right route in further advancing what Nintendo started, refining and improving on an actual motion controller. I need to have something in my hands when I'm playing a game, something tactile.

To me, what MS is doing is just silly. I have zero interest in not having some sort of controller in my hand. I mean yeesh even with DDR I'm still using something with buttons for the most part.

I liked what TP did with the fishing pointers, navigating the menus, and aiming with the bow/boomerang. Those were strong points. But I think I would have liked just a button to perform Link's pre-set slashes. I came across the same problems playing Spirit tracks:

TP felt limited to me somewhat, I wanted a more fluent style of gameplay and expected more epic sword fights and gun aiming with the Wii controller, but instead got worse :(

I'm hoping that with PMC, we will be able to counter and strike back, sorta like in assassin's creed, but instead, all down to how you defend and counter with your controllers. As well as using PMC to cast spells and you get the picture. It looks good on paper, but there is only one way to find out, you know what that is.

This arms race of motion controls is shaping up to be interesting. I'm curious about how Nintendo will respond, and if they'll need to, if Natal or Sony's controller come together well and are successful.

And personally, I can't wait to put my sunglasses on indoors and experiment with Natal.

Nevermind the fact that Sony's camera was used in the same way the Natal is going to be used by 90% of developers, sans Microsoft, without mentioning the additional support for infrared and the likes. PS2 had EyePlay and Sega Superstars er whatever. They were okay but ultimately advanced for the time.

Next is EyePet, and its essentially EyePlay 3 or 4 or whatever.

If most/all console games use this technology by the end of this console generation and/or the next console generation, I wonder how it'll affect ports to the PC. Gates said he may bring Natal to the PC but considering how they've crapped on the PC since Xbox 1 came out, I'm not holding out.

I'm a big Xbox fan when it comes to their hardware (reliability aside), but I completely agree with this guy. The complete lack of buttons and physical interaction is very disturbing to me and I can't see how they can make many games I would want to play with Natal.

At least with the PS3 one you can have light gun games, which I enjoy a lot.

But frankly I'd be just as happy if we never got motion control... it's just like touch on cell phones. There are a few usefull applications (like scrolling on a phone, pointing in a game), but for most functions a button is FAR more efficient. But becuase it is perceived as "cool", I can't get a damn smartphone with physical buttons anymore and have to do everything with silly and non-productive gestures. On my Palm Pixi I have to "swipe" on the touchpad from right to left to go back a screen. Can someone possibly explain to me why this is better than a fucking back button? Half the time it registers, half the time it doesn't. If someone could just combine the snazzy interface and graphics with a phone with actual buttons I'd be in paradise...

I don't know why so many people think you can't hold something while playing Natal, doesn't really make any sense especially since interacting with props were in the concept videos from E3.

Interacting with props using a camera from the system is not someting amazing or new... ppl should remember that it was Sony who showed that technology long long ago, they just decided to not continue developing the program for the ps3 once there was strong interest by the U.S. gov.
I am not saying that natal is a copy of it in any way, but is not completely "new".
Still amazing.

if it has buttons or triggers i don't care ,i just want it now. as for the button side do care . my first console bacl in 77 was an atari & it had a center joystick & one red button. so iv'e seen controllers go from one button to a 12 button controler .weather it has them or not i don't care ,just put out a product out already.

If anyone has seen "Gamer", use it as a small standpoint of what Natal would be like.

However, the problem with these things is that they boast the greatest of things and end up dissopointing with limitations. I can bet that everyone who bought a Wii and / or played it for the first time, started swing around like crazy, trying to do all the things they ever dreamt of doing, like Kazuya dragon uppercuts in boxing and what not, only to be thouroughly dissopointed by its limitations. Natal looks and sounds great in theory, but unitl we actually get to use and play with it, we won't know just how far it can go. I can't deny I'm excited for Natal and think it has lots of potential, but at the end of the day, its all down to how much that potential is used, and with games costing so much on 360 as opposed to Wii, developers can't afford to make crappy implemented Natal control game otherwise it could seriously cost them.

A Halo with annoying Natal controls is a Halo not worth playing, however great it may look.

I suppose it depends on what is done, people may like new tech, but its not as if they havent gone through the 'dancing and waving about in front of the screen' phase before. The Eyetoy introduced that, then Wii took it further, and now Natal is going one step further again, but it doesnt exactly mean either will pull people in, especially after Wii left a sour taste in some people's mouth. You also have to bare in mind how many game will be available for each.

The variety of PMC might win out.

No thanks to motion control, that's what the Wii did. It sold well, but how many really good games are out on the Wii? The best ones all don't really use the Wiimote very heavily (Mario Galaxy or Paper Mario for instance, or New Super Mario Bros Wii).

I want good games, I don't want gimmicks. No thanks to Natal or the PMC. However, if you put a gun to my head and made me pick one, at least the PMC is a standard controller with button inputs, and could be used for games, albeit a very limited selection of them (Like the Wiimote).

Natal I see as being great technology in the wrong field. Educational software, things like that? Awesome tech and has great uses. Games? No, games are meant to be fun. I don't find jumping around like a ninny fun. I find sitting on my couch with a controller and getting lost in the GAMEPLAY and STORY fun. Motion control actually takes me OUT of the immersion.

I think thats the only thing that would annoy me, because if not having any controllers is an excuse to sell lots of pointless prephirals just so that I can get the most out of my game, then its probably not worth it. The thing with Wii's is that they were optional, it made it slightly more realistic, but didn't NEED to be bought, but playing without anything, may tempt people to buy something to hold, therefore raking in more cash, even after the natal has been bought.
