The focus on Natal's latency can be understood, but you guys DO realize that the PS3 stick has roughly the same latency, do you not? Same as the Wii. Sony has cleverly avoided showing both the TV screen and user in the same shot, for the most part, but there IS such a clip out there, and if you pay attention, the latency is readily apparent. About 0.4 seconds. The _accuracy_ of the device is great. Exactly what the Wiimote is not (Motion Plus or no). That's made plainly evident by the videos of people holding swords and tennis rackets. But the latency is very real, and apparently impossible to avoid, if all three efforts have failed like this.

One thing I do realize is that you have no facts to back your claim.

In fact, the majority of plain Jane consumers won't even know how both devices will be like till they get to try it out themselves. I have doubts about Natal myself but I hope I'm dead wrong and it will work just as well as they say it will. If the PSMC has the same lat as the Wii than great, it will work fine since the lat with the Wii Controller is negligible, but won't know till we get to try it out.

If the it does have latency, "same as the wii", then obviously most consumers won't notice or care. If you're looking for it there's more of a latency in a wireless 360 controller than a wired one. But do you use the wired controller? I sure as hell don't.

This reminds me of when WWE and WCW wanted to mimic ECW's "hardcore" image and it stooping to Norman Smiley being called "the king of hardcore".

Yeah, good luck to these nitwits and their idea that people have 1000sqft to dedicate to their stupid motion garbage. 8 BIT 4 LIFE!

project natal is going to be an epic fail, it's practically the playstation eye just bigger and a little bit more accurate while the motion controller is something that would be the combination of project natal and the wiimote
so:
playstation eye + PlayStation motion controller = epic win

Who cares what this guy thinks? This guy spends time developing licenced crap for kids, while real developers like Hideo Kojima already praised Natal's applications and is actively developing for it.

Imagine how cool it would be to have a camera track motion accurately enough to make games play like the real world equivalent of the activity.

Now imagine how much you will suck at the game if you have to perform most of the actions yourself. Imagine a baseball game where you must pitch and hit with accuracy. Most people can barely throw a ball faster than 60 MPH and can't hit the broad side of a barn. I don't think you'll be striking out Ryan Howard in MLB 2012. The best hitters can only manage to get a hit 3 out of 10 times. With accurate controls of the type Microsoft is promising with Natal I don't think you'll like going up against Josh Beckett.

Realistic, yes. Fun, no.

If you are ptiching and have no buttons, how are you going to throw a curve ball, slider, four seamer? I guess you could move your arm up, left, down, or right to select a pitch and then make the trowing motion. But then how does the game register the speed? How is this different than Wii baseball?

The same thing goes for Madden. Are you going to throw like the quarterback and then start running in place as the receiver. Throwing stiff arms and spins. I don't think half the people out there would be able to make it through a quarter with that kind of activity.

Ever play Gran Turismo 4 with the GT4 wheel? Ever play it on realistic settings? Were you able to drive faster than 50mph without crashing? See with realism things are supposed to be real. The problem with realism is that most people are not talented enough to perform the actions well enough to get any enjoyment out of the activity. You like playing Madden because you can control athletes and do things you could never do in real life. YOU CAN WIN A NFL GAME. With realistic controls I don't think 99% of gamers could even complete a pass if the game is simulated properly.

That is why all you will get with Natal or any motion controlled system is Wii like waggle, Natal like flailing about, or Sony style 1:1 pointer interaction. At least the 1:1 pointer interaction can add to the simulated realism by allowing finer control over the on screen representation.

Man I could really care less if Sony drops there motion controller and MS drops Natal. Just give me a normal controller and let me set my fat but on the lazy boy and let me play. The last thing I want to be doing is jumping up and down in my living room waving my arms and body like some crazy mad man. I'm just fine playing my PS3 with my Dualshock 3 / Sixaxis controller. Same goes for my 360 controller.
