The idea of a three-day speed run of Pokémon, in which the runners would attempt to capture all of the pocket-sized monsters therein, would have been a lot more feasible back in 1998. Today, the number of in-game species has ballooned from 151 to 493, a number that can only be appreciated when depicted in words: Four-hundred and ninety-three.
The charitable gaming experts of TheSpeedGamers plan to accomplish this near-impossible goal while taking donations for Ally's House, an Oklahoma-based children's cancer foundation. It sounds like a really great cause -- why not show some support on the group's livestream? Even if your "support" is just you repeatedly singing the Pokérap over and over, ad infinitum.

It took me a while, but I finally deciphered your crazy English...
"Were these the guys that failed to [accomplish their goal] once before?"
Man, I must be tired or something.

Well, to his credit, S. Tiger had perfectly grammatical English, it's just that he lacked an antecedent for what "the guys" were doing, though the post made it pretty clear as to what he was referring to. Maybe you're just tired from lack of sleep, Nytemare. Your username does sort of suggest it.

Speaking of grammatical errors, that should read "Four-hundred-ninety-three" in the article above.

Agree with TherionMEC. As it reads the number would be 400.93.

Wait... does this mean that they could technically just have all of the Pokemon donated to them? If that's the case, I would imagine that they'll be able to do it faster than three days, (assuming of course that people don't value their prescious pokemans more than human life...). Nonetheless, it's a good cause. I hope they can be the very best, like no one ever was.

Nope, they are only allowing Pokemon caught by themselves, no outside trades.

This is impossible. I mean I just don't see how it's possible. Are they just going to catch every Pokemon that can be caught in the one specific game they are playing? Are they going to trade to other versions? There are over 100 pokemon that can only be obtained by playing the GBA versions and copying over, and there is a limit of 6 pokemon copied over per day. So I'm sorry to say but this is literally impossible. I'm just going to assume they are just going to catch every pokemon available in the specific game they are playing.

HeartGold and SoulSilver allow UNLIMITED use of the Pal park - so they can mass import at the end.
If I can finish it with no knowlage of Japanese, I sure these guys can.

Actually, In Platinum there is less than 100 you can't get. It's around like 50. Plus you can trade from D/P as they have some exclusives that Platinum doesn't. Also, they have 5 DS games they are playing

I know it sounds impossible. But they explained how they will obtain the pokemon that you can only get in events. Don't fret. They have a whole system down.

Can't be done. I mean, you only get ONE masterball, and let's face it, those legendaries are friggen uncatchable. Unless the newer versoins make it easier, I haven't played a pokemon game since Yellow.

Yellow is the ultimate edition of Pokemon. Coincidentally, it is also the last Pokemon that I ever played as well.

the legendary's are all catachable when at 1-10 health and asleep with an ultra ball. look it up. in some cases, speed balls are the only ones that are time-effiecient like for the 3 dogs

I've caught a legendary with a normal Pokeball...
......after I exhausted ALL my ultraballs, put it to sleep several times, paralyzed it a buncha' times, and who knows what other ungodly things I did to it.
......... and then I was disappointed, because I had a legendary in a boring normal Pokeball.....

I don't know, i think they were pretty catchable in Diamond and Pearl. The only one i had a really hard time with that i didn't use a Masterball on was Mesprit, and that was just because you got one shot at it before it ran, so if your sleep/paralysis/no run move failed, you had to leg it cross country again.

Umm... So mew? Celebi? Jirachi? Deoxys? Manaphy? Phione? Shaymin? Darkrai? Arceus? There is a way to catch all of them except Celebi without a cheating device, but still... Most of those are event only. How are they going to catch all 493 when it's impossible to do it ever since diamond and pearl came out. Heck once the series went to GBA, Celebi was uncapturable through legal means.

Are they going to put all of them in Pokemon Ranch and after a few hours of viewing, turn of their Wii, forget about Pokemon Ranch, and several months later panic when they can't find their Pokemon in their DS?
..... I know I did that... took me two days to remember that they were in Pokemon Ranch...

Uhm, don't want to dissapoint you guys but they already did it last year. They caught 400 something but failed to get all Pokémon because they made a mistake when getting Ho-Oh and their Ruby cartridge stopped working so all Pokémon on that save file were lost.
Believe me, it is possible if you know what you're doing.

Yes that would work. Goes against the purpose of doing the charity though.
Also, it's called Action Replay.

I doubt this can be done. I spent 214 hours on Pearl, and even then I ended at 260-something for my "living pokedex". IE, one in the bank of each species, not just evolving it and having it in my pokedex.
I guess if you had a few people though you could reduce time some. Still a crazy ass feat.

Most of the comments here have failed to realize the post said "runners", as in more than one person. I can imagine with a large number of people, this would be entirely possible. Best of luck to those guys/gals, I think this is an awesome way to raise money for a great cause.

Question: Do the new Pokemon games contain all of the past pokemon? The last games I played were Gold and silver.

They contain most of the old Pokemon. Some of the legendaries need to be transfered from the GBA games.
