Torchlight gets big Steam update, half-price weekend

Valve knows you, conservative Steam user. You've been holding out for a discount on the already low-priced Torchlight from Runic Games, using the game's lack of Achievements and Steam Cloud support as an excuse to do so, haven't you? Haven't you?!

It's alright (and we're sorry for yelling)! But we had to get your attention to tell you that Steam's benevolent overlords are already thinking a few steps ahead, adding the aforementioned Cheevos and Cloud support in an update last night as well as dropping the game's price by 50% for the duration of the weekend. For $9.99, you can venture into the land of Torchlight and click to your heart's content -- there's even a demo if you're so inclined. The deal last's until Monday, so let's hope you're an expedient Steam user as well as a conservative one.

You might as well have said "it was already literally half price".

Absolutely! At $10 it's one of the best bargains of the year.

It always amazes me that often the $10 games are the ones I wind up playing over the $60 ones. This game is super fun! Damn you Steam...

Man, the last boss was pretty awesome!!!

Already working on a fighter double wielder and a mystic knight (and alchemist with sword and shield)

For $10 you'd have to be a fool not to buy this game. You're getting a LOT of content for that price.

I accidentally Torchlight.

I got this game a while back it is the best buy in video game history for me. That and I bought 19.99 bioshock. this has probably been this best year of my gaming life. .........OK best year in a long time.

Hurry up with the Mac version and I'll happily hand over (probably considerably more than this price) for it.

I'm currently enjoying the Steam version of Torchlight on my Mac via Crossover Games.

This is the bargain of the year, no doubt. Torchlight is the best game I've played in a while for a loot and leveling whore like myself. I really enjoyed Sacred 2, despite its faults and all, as it is the kind of RPG I become addicted with, but Torchlight brought that addiction and a higher level of polish. For $10, this is an absolute steal. Don't expect an amazing story, but expect great environments, style, gameplay, and looting!

Damn you steam. I never bought this game because it didn't have online play. Now at that price, i couldn't ressist. Now what is funny is i ended up paying 20$ because i ended up sending a copy to a friend for christmas.

Buy it now if you like action RPGs, Diablo-like games in particular, or simply if you like fun. :)

It would seem that at some point everything on Steam that's worth playing will be on sale.
