Since Ubisoft formally announced Ghost Recon 4 back in April, news on the game -- or anything Ghost Recon-related, for that matter -- has been pretty scant. If a trademark discovered by Superannuation recently is any indication of where the series is going, however, then it seems "the Ghosts" are going into the future. Just this week, Ubisoft trademarked "Ghost Recon: Future Soldier" with the usual "game software and electronic game programs" descriptor for video game trademarks.
In fairness, the Ghost Recon games have always been set a bit into the future, with Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 taking place in the not-so-distant 2014. Will the French game publisher take the next step and bring the series into the somewhat-more-distant future? 2015, perhaps? We've heard that, by then, you won't need roads. Think of that!

I hope they add more realism, but not to the point where it's just ArmA.

they are going into the future where they have time machines to go into the past!

I was really impressed with the PSP version of Ghost Recon: AW 2. However, Ubisoft really needs to bring something ORIGINAL to its franchise. At this point in the video game industry, I don't know if I can stand another generic shooter. But I can already see they're bringing something unique to GR. I always wanted a futuristic Call of Duty, but Ghost Recon is fine with me. Now they need to develop an outstanding game, and, oh--MARKET THE PRODUCT.

I liked GRAW 2's singleplayer.
But the multiplayer felt buggy and not tactile. It seemed like my character's actions were always a second or two behind my commands.
I suppose its more realistic but it wasn't a pleasure playing online multiplayer. I did enjoy playing coop games like enemy elimination and etc.

So, is it a soldier from the future or are they sending a soldier to the future? Why not just wait.

Lame name is lame. I hated how the characters seemed to just float/glide over the surface in GRAW 2, especially in multiplayer. Felt like characters had no weight, was weird.

When did it become cool to hate MW2? I remember back when the put the first teaser trailer up this whole site was in huge love with this game, now everyone hates it. Same with Guitar Hero. Someone please elaborate what's up with these "hate phases"

I wasn't hating on MW or GRAW, and I know GRAW did it first, I was more amused by the subtitle of 'future soldier', pointing out that since MW went 'modern', its been quite the ideal basis to follow (Medal of Honour) I suspect maybe GRAW is looking for a similar atmosphere, just less explosions and more stealth as always. Who knows. I'd buy it anyway, I love stealth and have yet to miss a Ghost Recon or Socom.

It is better than most shooters out there, so yes.

Why not, I see MW as a technical standpoint, okay, the last one may not have been as great as the first, but when Halo came out, we were comparing games to it for years, and all in good reasoning, it set a bar to reach and others had to surpass it or reach it, we expected no less. MW just went and did that again.

Are you talking about the 80s? Because most of the 90s to me was an assload of furred mascots due to the trend set by Sonic.

I remember the PS2 days quite well. Back when everything was WWII. I even remember the days before that, when most shooters had to have demons/hell or in rare case aliens who looked like demons.
I can't ever really think of a time when a shooting game had an amazing story that was easy to follow. I can think of plenty of times when shooting games weren't the first to do something, but they were just plain anyways.

I loved the GRAW games just the way they were. I would like regenerating health however. Just a thought.

I love how these future dates are becoming closer and closer to the actual date.

the reason that the dates are moving ever closer is simply because the real world tech is catching up to what the games are claiming the military will be using in just a few months in most cases...and almost all the gear from graw 1 and 2 is real...the future warrior system is being tested in the field by a select few elite ranger units(like most weapons and technological systems used by the military in the past)...just about the only i\thing i can think of thats in graw 1 oe 2 thats still being developed is the mr-c because of the issues theyre having with the propelant9cant remember the proper spelling) caps...its slated for a 2015 militaryy test and a 2020 civilian issue date...i promise all you other gun freaks out there thats when you can get your hands on a mr-c...better have a assload of cash for the expesive as balls ammo though...and theres also the xm8 from h&k...it was cancelled a few years ago because the used rubber for the foregrip and it kept melting under combat fire tests...yet instead of just making them ballistic plastic like the rest of the gun(not my choice of materials) the army told h&k to cancel...now you rich bitches get your hands on one because of ebay and we dont...RICH BASTARDS!!!!
