What was it Filthy said? Something about the comic and how it was meant to be offensive, so if it ever did get a spot he could rub it in the face of others? Well, he didn't use quite so many words, but the main point is still there.

I feel I should make a custom poll which has positive votes and negative votes (just like Joystiq's comment system). A negative vote deducts one off the total vote for that comic.

I feel the amount of voters would go up drastically. So itd end up being a competition of who has the least negative votes :P

I like the idea, but then you get into the mob mentality of the internet. And I don't mean mafia. The internet is like a box full of blind, venom-spitting serpents, who fling vitriol and hate at everything that moves. Generally, criticism is supposed to be a positive thing, to give someone an idea of what needs to be changed to improve the craft.

Your solution would work like this: There are guys who would neg vote everything over and over again, because since being IN this contest, I've rarely seen a comic that gets his funny bone. Every week there's a guy on here saying that nothing is funny, trying out their version of 'aren't comics supposed to be funny ha-ha-ha' comment, and coming off as trolls.

Nothing against the constantly negative guys, I'm sure there's a joke on papyrus somewhere that an ancient Sumerian told that would get a chuckle out of him, but I'd rather than every week counting on hateful sons of bitches to neg vote as much as people regularly vote.

In general, spewing vitriol is easier than just avoiding something, and I know negative people NEED to fulfill the illusion that their hate-filled screeds are read and paid attention to. Because in other areas of these negative folks' lives I'd imagine people know already that they have the brains of a salad, and avoid their opinions and advice.

But because sarcasm and hate are the lifesblood of internet posters, I can see how the idea that the 'least negative' would survive. How about this as a substitute? Give up on webcomic reading altogether. Nothing in them has satisfied you, and you've said as much about (literally) a thousand times. I guarantee if you could look up your posts each week, how many of them are 'none of them were funny' or ' I want a none of the above option'? I'd say the majority, because thinking things are funny means you're not the one in control of the humor. And God knows the internet entitles everyone with a keyboard and a user interface to be the arbiter of what is and isn't funny.

Dipswitch was also good, mostly because it speaks to more than just Dragon Age. In any video game, why can i have the power to kill gods, but not the power to smash open treasure chests?

Anyone who thinks you have to laugh at something for it to be funny doesn't really understand humour very well.

I think everyone has forgotten how awesome the Brawl in the Family ones are. That story is epic, and it's got me laughing out loud quite a few times.

Also I don't know who said it was a troll comic but it's not. It's funny that the people who seem to hate it the most still check it out every week and then offer up really terrible suggestions on how to improve much better comics such as Penny Arcade. I guess in that sense it is a troll comic, only we don't have to do anything troll-like in nature and you all just troll yourselves.

I'm gonna have to go with PA on this one simply because I do skate IRL, and I'm not happy, AT ALL, with the way Tony Hawk has been handling the bad reviews of Ride.
