Or South Carolina...

I wonder if these moves are a direct result of California's financial issues...

"The information is in-line with rumors that Joystiq has been hearing about more EA changes on the horizon. When we contacted the company about specific studio closures and relocation, an EA spokesperson told us, "We have nothing more to add to this story.""

I think I missed this post, unless this was something you haven't posted about yet.

Damn Yankees making fun of the south. It really is great down here unless you live in a real rural area.

Funny thing is that alot of people that live here in Atlanta are from the north. While northern cities are on the decline alot of southern cities like Atlanta are growing. We must be doing something right.

This is fantastic news! I know too many Computer Science graduates from GT without jobs or they are working for tiny startups which only go under a few months later.

Microsoft, Adobe, and Google are pretty big in recruiting there and EA might stand a chance of picking up talented programmers if they are offered the chance to stay in GA (even though GT has a huge out of state student body).

And if I remember correctly, GA was trying to give big incentive to video game development in the area by reducing taxes to virtually nothing for the first few years.

That's the first thing that crossed my mind as well. Georgia Tech would feed them so many solid employees working at entry-level salary, sucks having to move right when we graduate. Combine that with tax breaks on the offices and it's a match made in heaven.

Please be true. I would love a gaming studio where I could intern and not have to fly across the US.

I figured Atlanta wouldn't be so bad. The nerds at Georgia Tech would make fine recruits.

I suggest to you that you start doing research on working on Open Source games found all across the internet. This will not only put you into contact with some great resources and references, but keep your resume up to date.

I know little about the program you mentioned, but I know my friends from GT were forced to do something similar. Most end up with jobs in time, but it does take some time, patients, and experience! I wish you the best of luck!

I don't get it. First they close an office in Atlanta of over 31 people, now they open another with over 300... I just don't get it...
