On Major Nelson's weekly podcast -- with a host left laughing and teary-eyed due to the Xbox head's dental-related lisp -- Aaron Greenberg did some NPD boasting before ruminating on the first half of 2010. After pointing out Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, and Alan Wake, he confirmed Crackdown 2 as part of Microsoft's list of "triple-A, exclusive" titles heading to the Xbox 360 during "the first half of the year."
"Those are just the exclusives, that doesn't include Final Fantasy ... there's no way we had a first half of the year like that last year," Greenberg added. The back end of the upcoming year is no slouch either in his eyes, with Halo Reach and Fable 3 said to be on schedule for launch in the Fall. Considering the first Crackdown's February release date, we're hoping for a similarly timed release of the sequel (just in time for its third birthday!). We've followed up with Greenberg and will update this post if we hear more.

I'm guessing it will come out in April or May, giving all of us Mass Effect 2 people plenty of time to beat the game and the first round of DLC for it.

For some reason I feel like Alan Wake's going to be a disappointment. One of those good, but why the hell did it take so long to make this, kinda games.

I also feel like Alan Wake won't live up to expectations, and as for Crackdown it will be a rental and not a buy from me.

you're all haters, i think alan wake is going to be great. it's done by the max payne guys, which i think is a pretty good indication. they've also been "polishing" it since august, so i don't see why anyone would compare it to alone in the dark (which actually wasn't that bad of a game, just buggy with terrible controls).
my only concern right now is that it may not be the most original game ever made, but either way it's shaping up to be pretty excellent.

Alone it's okay, you're right. But, it's not decent co-op, the co op was just pure fun. Unless you don't know how to have fun, and strictly did the missions, then of course, they were all pretty run of the mill missions.
But it's what you do inbetween the missions, the retarded fun you can have with your friend, that makes it such a good game!

I liked the first one, but it wasn't anything near as good as some would have you to believe that's why I'm gameflying this game and not purchasing it.

If it came out on the PS3, and came with a (insert PS3 exclusive beta) he would have loved it.

Oh, boy, Crackdown was such a fantastic Xbox classic, cannot wait for this. But, like everyone else is saying, I will be put in poverty with this firestorm of games coming out in the first half of 2010. In a way, I love it. There will always be something to both look forward to and we'll never get bored. And thankfully, with so many games, we won't have that dreadful drought we had the past summer.
So, so, so excited. This will be an amazing year.

Is catching up on gaming an acceptible reason to take a year out from uni ?

This is just great news. File this under the "earlier than expected" releases along with Mass Effect 2. Crackdown was barrels of fun. Hardly a perfect game by any stretch, but I enjoyed it just as much as inFAMOUS, GTA, and Saints Row. Sure, it didn't have the high production values of a GTA, but the enjoyment factor was through the freaking roof, imo. The combo of RPG-ish elements and platforming made for a compelling adventure. Now I just hope for a better story and more varied bosses in Crackdown 2.

Halo Reach will be more than enough. Without a CoD to compete with and the fact that Reach is the prequel to the majority of gamers favorite Halo (Combat Evolved), Reach will be absolutely huge. It'll be on scale with the Halo 3 launch or even bigger. And, not to mention, Bungie says it's their last Halo. We shall see, but either way, it's gonna be a blockbuster season with Reach.
Fable III will just be icing on an already delcious cake built up by titles like Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Halo Reach, other yet to be announced titles, to a lesser extent, Mass Effect 2 (it's also on PC), etc.

MS really has very little interms of games that are announced as far as anything interesting. ME2 is really the only one I want and if you look it up a few days ago someone hinted that it might come to the PS3 and I'd rather buy it for a machine that won't break. Alan Wake, Crackdown2 are rentals and Splinter Cell I'm still on the fence, but most likely a rental since it seems more arcadey and not reality based. I mean the guy is right next to you in a fairly lit room and the guard can't see him?

I own both of those said systems and have had both crap out on me. Luckily, however, I had product replacement plans, thus both experiences were hassle-free.
And I like nearly every genre, so I'll be getting all of those 360 games I mentioned, along with titles for PS3 like Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Modnation Racers, etc.

with this past year i was a little disappointed by the xbox's performance games-wise, but this year is once again making me feel great about owning an xbox.

Apparently, you haven't played the first Crackdown or you'd know that they're not zombies but mutants that players unleashed in the first game.

CD2 was great and i say that as one who didnt buy it for halo beta. the jump in jump out coop was perfect which wasnt done like that until that game. the driving and the vehicles physics and the agent upgrade vehicles were far better than any of the gta games. and the shooting and aiming was spot on. which again is more than i can say for most gta games. yea the weapons where limited but with the abilities which when upgraded were actually dramatically better, which made hand to hand more fun in some cases

No fair, 360 gets Final Fantasy but we don't get Crackdown. That's the only game that tempted me when I was thinking about getting a 360 2 years ago.
