@ Rocks,

I totally agree. The FPS multi-player experience would be a whole lot more enjoyable if people actually played as a team. You either get the 'lone soldier' gung-ho types who just want to run and gun and not communicate on their mics, or you get the insanely dedicated clan members who take the game and the stats (like the odious kill/death ratio) entirely too seriously, and who end up trashing their own teammates who are less than stellar (such as myself).

I get the former a lot in MW2, and I got the latter a lot in SOCOM (which ruined the experience for me). I liken myself to being in the middle of the spectrum. I find engaging in teamwork thoroughly enjoyable (treasure hunt in Uncharted 2 is a great example of this), but I don't take any game so seriously that I am ready to narc an inferior teammate when they mess up.

Cool....I'll give it a tryout on Jan. 4th. I'll have to remember to recharge my bluetooth headset so I can work with my team...

I have not been following this game, but from the sounds of it I thought more people would be interested in it. Crazy to see so many negative responses to it.

On a side note, anyone know how large the file size is (or roundabout) so I can free up some HDD space for it? I get the feeling it is going to be massive, and seeing how there have been numerous iterations for the BETA in the past, figured I would ask.

Not as bad as I thought it would be, but still not sure if it will be worth deleting other files and then going through the download (based on some of these comments I'm reading).

Thanks for the reply, and I'll likely download it once I clear some room.

Should just give it a shot. I really liked it. The battles feel almost like a dungeon crawl since you have to perform certain objectives in order to win.

It is really important that they do this. Most of Sony's bigger online games lately have needed patching almost immediately (though that goes for most significantly online games across platforms), and this game relies upon it much more heavily than most

What are the play times on this? 8 to 9 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays on each odd week starting after the winter solstice?

Seriously, MAG is going to be a big flop. ModNation is the shit.

I had a lot of fun with the beta until everyone else suddenly got really really good and I didn't. Not really sure how it was happening, maybe I was just doing it wrong.

Although once you get it and start playing right, it really picks up and becomes a lot of fun. My biggest issue was that you really need a good clan and to work with people you know. Always being tossed into random groups doesn't work out too well since nobody really co-ordinates (at least when I played).

I'm looking forward to the beta since I was in an earlier one and got booted out before they fixed a lot of issues, so I'm curious to try it again and see if it is better.

Gameplay is cool in this game, but the graphics are really bad. It feels like a slight improvement over Battlefield 2 / 2142 for the PC.

I'm afraid good gameplay won't sell copies this time though.

I played the beta, it was a lot of fun. Ignore the lying haters who haven't even played the game. It's like COD, but with lots of people, and customization of characters. What's not to love?

The COD part.

I honestly don't care too much for this game anymore, I've played alot of matches, but it just doesn't grip me.

Oh well, I've had enough of FPS' anyway.

Despite it's awesome server architecture that allows it to hold up to 256 players, it's largely unimpressive as the game modes are basically team A attacks team B's base and vice versa.

Everyone who's saying this game is generic obviously put no time into exploring the Leadership mechanics of the game.

Ranking up and being able to become a Squad Leader to designate targets or control points, call down Air Strikes and UAV scans, and communicate with other Squad Leaders/Platoon Leaders to form a strategy really separates this game from the truly generic games like BF:BC2 and MW2.

Don't get me started on the skill tree/"class" system. This game is awesome.

Well....at least opening the beta will allow more testing.....maybe they will make their servers more reliable. My performance in the beta in connecting to games alone has been spotty.....at best. And I have FIOS.

I have loved every game from ZIPPER......and the idea of 256 players is intriguing but they NEED to REQUIRE Voice chat capability for this game....

The major issue I have had is that without the voice chat (ala SOCOM)....games are nearly unmanageable as there is no communication save between a couple people and everyone runs willy nilly (kinda like WARHAWK in that sense).

MAG has potential but unless it fixes its issues.......

i played the beta and it was horrible.

essentially the game would go like this: run "forever" to get to the actual battle, get killed by one of the many people around you, respawn, repeat.

and the lag made the game unplayable.

the end.

@ michael P.

What Lag??? You on dial up or something because at no time did the game ever lag on my 60GB Launch PS3. Game ran smooth as a offline game. Wait cue for Domination was horrible but their was virtually no wait cue for Sabotage. I waited MAYBE a whole minuet? If you payed attention to the numbers saying in domination how many players were actually playing for each side you would have realized sabotage was the way to play.

@ Breakerchase

Did you even look at the LOCKED game modes??? Their's more than A attacks B's base.

I was lucky to be part of the last beta, even played with some of the game designers and i think alot of people are overlooking a couple of important aspects of the game , HEADSETS/COMMUNICATION with other sqaud members is key to success , also TEAMWORK/WATCHING EACHOTHERS' BACK VITAL !!!!! .This game has potential , you score more for reviving a teammate than killing an enemy , proximity chat to taunt enemies . NO game is perfect , I too have some dilikes , guess we will just have to wait.

"Just generic" Really, lets see the first 256 person online shooter with dedicated servers (which has never been done before on a console), sounds ground breaking not generic. Not to mention that it encourages team work and rewards those who actually participate in the squad objectives. I am not shocked that you MW2 cry babies aren't happy, yeah no team work, just run around and shoot...been there done that. Let's get a chain of command, realistic weapons, and an army of 126 players working together to take a base, ability to call in arty rounds, air strikes, multiple communication channels for platoon, squad, and officer and command...doesn't get more realistic that that, unless you want to go and join the army. Oh and Zipper didn't make Socom Confrontation, so I don't see how they can be blamed for its short comings. If Sony came to you and said he we will build you new servers for the ground up will you do this game or you can just go back to a dying franchise would you honestly turn them down.
