Hopefully it's better than their last two games... Don't get me wrong Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon weren't bad RPG's. I just found them to be rather extremely generic, and completely average all around.

You're crazy! Lost Odyssey is fantastic. Not only twice the game of the closest JRPGs of this generation, but easily hangs with the best of any generation.

Ahh, now that's a real Lego car. Not that smooth, rounded-off click on three big pieces and you're done crap they sell these days.

I was going to say something about how the kid who chokes on marbles doesn't get to grow up and have kids of his own, but I didn't want to be compared to Hitler on a whim again.

God I miss when tory stores pretty much had an entire isle devoted to just Technic kits. Those LEGO Technic "Model" series kits were amazing. New LEGO kits are a joke, the last I got was the original RCX Mindstorms mega kit... That set was pretty beastly, shame I rusted the motors out making a submarine.

Eh. Lego hit their nadir with Harry Potter and has been steadily improving ever since. Although I do kind of hate that there's only about five Technic sets available at a time. The Agents sets were really well designed and the Lego Star Wars and Atlantis sets are pretty cool aside from the price. Castle and Town are pretty much the only sets that still use a ridiculous number of bupps these days.

You really should take a look at Lego's Creator series of sets. Lots of pieces, instructions for multiple example models, plenty of room for creativity. And, even at their worst, Lego has never been as bad as Mega Bloks as far as specialized, one-use-only pieces.

Lost Odyssey was an excellent title with heart. Seth, Kaim and Jansen were all very good characters and the story was tops, especially the "dreams". Many JRPG's lack the soul that makes them unique. Sure, it stuck to the turn-based formula, which I enjoy, and it had to do with amnesia (JRPG #129872908239808 that dealt with amnesia), but the inner workings of the story and its characters was so well presented and told in such a fascinating way.

I hope the next game follows this formula.

So basically... Cry-On was recently "canceled" and now Mistwalker was apparently working on a secret game that's now "almost done" eh?

Could this secret game be, I dunno... Cry-On ???

(Also, when is A.S.H. gonna be translated to English audiences already?!)

My biggest problem with Mistwalker games is that they usually take forever to do anything. Im all for long games, but they just accomplish so little in the time frame I am playing them. I guess the older I get the less time I have for battling king poo snakes.

Any plans after this game to break the exclusive-ness??? He must be a little bummed that final fantasy 13 came out and easily did 1 million, maybe if he went for that platform as well.. Anything he's done was lucky to break 250,000. Its just a good business decision from every angle!

Never played Lost Odyssey or Blue Dragon [not much of a JRPG fan] but I sure as hell loved both games' art style. What Sakaguchi has in store, I'm sure it will be a gorgeous looking game.

How time flies. Just 3 years back Mistwalker was supposed to be the one to dethrone Final Fantasy, and there was lots of gloating about how MS had bought out the FF killer. Now, xbox fans are gloating because just one of the three FF games is available in some regions on the 360, FF has sold more in 1 week in Japan than Mistwalker did over 3 years, the 360 is dead in Japan despite Mistwalker and all the other JRPGs bought with cold cash. Pity, really, because good game or not, Lost Odyssey would have sold 2 million more copies at least on the PS3 if they had not been so foolish

Who is "they," Microsoft or Mistwalker?

Either way, Microsoft provided the financial backing that allowed Mistwalker to exist, and a huge part of their arrangement was the creation of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey (which I'm fairly certain are technically Microsoft owned IPs). It may have been foolish to think they could have turned the tide in Japan with a few good games in their favorite genre, but nothing could have ever changed the games being Xbox 360 exclusives.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize Sony was paying you to knock on Microsoft...

Wait... they aren't?

Oh well then you're just an idiot fanboy then, how sad.

Microsoft was probably the only one willing to financially back it.. but imagine if Nintendo or Sony were to. Those games would have been much bigger financially.

haha, people who think that games should be made to dethrone other games crack me up.

there's been ONE release in the lost odyssey franchise. should they continue to release installments in it, i really think it could go somewhere. in case you don't remember, the first final fantasy didn't change the world when it was released by itself. the FF franchise definitely built up steam over the course of its releases. to compare one or two games to the success of a 15-20 game franchise is absolutely moronic.

Forget his future projects, I want his Lego schematics! I've been pining over his Lego creations since his blog was introduced, but I lack the skill set to cobble these tiny treasures together. Sad face.

this shouldn't be surprising to anyone, mistwalker's new project has been rumored for a while now, and the next logical place to announce it is at E3.

wouldn't be surprised if this project is non-exclusive. they tried that with plenty of jrpgs on the 360 and they didn't sell too well, but who knows. the legal internal wrangling needed to get around any exclusivity agreement might also explain the delay in any announcement.

either way, i want a new rpg!
