According to an investor document (PDF) posted by Capcom Japan today, several major titles have been moved from the company's fiscal fourth quarter, which ends March 31, 2010. The delays, which appear to be worldwide, include Super Street Fighter IV and Lost Planet 2, in addition to the North American and European release of Monster Hunter 3. The releases of these games and others, including Dead Rising 2, are planned to be "spread across all four quarters" of Capcom's fiscal 2011, which begins April 1, 2010 and ends March 31, 2011. The decision to delay the games was made in order to "avoid competing with the major titles that other companies plan to introduce."
Curiously, Dark Void has not been delayed, though Capcom has drastically reduced its sales forecast from 1.3 million units to only 600,000 (the split between Xbox 360 and PS3 copies was not specified).
Given the reasons for Capcom's schedule shuffling, we can't help but wonder if other companies will follow suit. When all is said and done, the Great 2009 Holiday Release Migration just might be set to repeat itself. If so, does Yves Guillemot win a prize?

Yeah, but Hawk is too jaded from year-end delays to let his emotions get the best of him anymore.

Capcom is putting some major backing into Dark Void. I hope their updated sales forecasts aren't an indication of the game being a dud. Game looks pretty promising.
Disappointed in seeing Lost Planet 2 slip, but it makes sense. The first game was really only as successful as it was because it was released when no other games would bother coming out. Hope it means they'll be putting in some extra polish and taking fan suggestions for the multiplayer.

I don't think a whole lot of people are terribly interested in Dark Void. Whenever you come across an article about it online, the comments section is probably dead. That's not a sure fire way of knowing it'll be a flop, but generally if something isn't catching on amongst the core gamer crowd, it isn't a good sign.
Capcom is probably starting to realize that finally.

Different. The Wii had a good bit of core gamer hype behind it as it rolled up to launch, and either way, there is no way in hell Dark Void is going to break out like that
My take is that it's going to flop hard. It's going to be Bionic Commando all over again, a solid idea that will be hampered by far too many technical problems, as well as a general lack of interest.

I was all ready to kill some bugs as Wesker, but haw haw nope, lets push this already finished game back a while because it might not make money.
Why are you trying to hurt me, Capcom (I'll buy your games anyway though, I'm stupid like that)

It always seemed strange to me to release both Street Fighter and Tatsunoko Vs during the same period. A month or two apart, but still.
Street Fighter is a 'big event' game and, despite Tatsunoko being on another platform, there was always the chance it could have cannibalised sales of the smaller Vs game - speaking primarily about those who own both a Wii and one of the HD cousins.

Don't mean to be nitpicky here, but seeing as how you waited three years to stockpile all of the good Wii games before buying the platform (depriving yourself of true classics, mind, that takes some serious dedication), why wouldn't you be able to just sit and wait it out with any of these games while you finished your backlog?

Providing that I can afford whatever game that's coming out, I don't wait to get it. I'll buy it and just put everything else to the side until I'm done with it.

Agree. This is a good move regardless if it's because of production delays. Although I kind of could care less. Not interested in SF and Lost Planet is only on my "bullpen list" of games to play in 2010 ie. will only play it if I'm desperate for a game.

These delays are dissapointing, but as tmac and others have said, we'll already have a bunch of other Q1 titles to be playing.
Having a few delays should work out for both gamers (time to play other titles) and Capcom (less competition = potentially higher sales figures). It's win-win! :)

"Hey did you hear what Capcom's doing? Let's do that as well"
grow some balls, Capcom. 2K did it.
