According to an investor document (PDF) posted by Capcom Japan today, several major titles have been moved from the company's fiscal fourth quarter, which ends March 31, 2010. The delays, which appear to be worldwide, include Super Street Fighter IV and Lost Planet 2, in addition to the North American and European release of Monster Hunter 3. The releases of these games and others, including Dead Rising 2, are planned to be "spread across all four quarters" of Capcom's fiscal 2011, which begins April 1, 2010 and ends March 31, 2011. The decision to delay the games was made in order to "avoid competing with the major titles that other companies plan to introduce."
Curiously, Dark Void has not been delayed, though Capcom has drastically reduced its sales forecast from 1.3 million units to only 600,000 (the split between Xbox 360 and PS3 copies was not specified).
Given the reasons for Capcom's schedule shuffling, we can't help but wonder if other companies will follow suit. When all is said and done, the Great 2009 Holiday Release Migration just might be set to repeat itself. If so, does Yves Guillemot win a prize?

All sensible moves. The great sales success of Lost Planet 1, i feel, was very much due to the fact that it released in January of 2007, a month that was otherwise devoid of anything (except WarioWare Wii's stateside release). The brand has built itself some respectability, but its not strong enough to roll with the top players. Super Street Fighter IV is one of those games that works best from a value perspective, and shouldn't be competing with more premium titles.
Monster Hunter Tri is a more personal thing. If they move that game out to summer, there's a much, much higher chance of me buying it (especially since Pokemon Soul Silver is February now, and that game will take me a solid month or more to beat, depending on how i define beat)

Either way I'd have been waiting til June or July to play them anyway so if they come out a month or 4 months before I could play them makes it irrelevant to me.

Eh...well, SF4 still has enough sugar to continue going for a while.. is jsut sad I will need to wait a little longer to play with GUY and T.Hawk...and Hakan! ...
I hope this help the developers to give a better frame to the game, so they don't rush it...and alter try to correct it with updates.. meh..hate updates.

But isn't that the genius about this move? Anyone who is hungry for this game to come out ASAP will still buy this game despite of the delay so it's not like Capcom will lose money for doing this. They will however gain a better chance of making money as people like novus82x will more likely buy one of their games if it is released during a period where there are fewer good games coming out.
