The assassin is Thane, it was brought up in his character bio when they unveiled him a long time ago. The only one that got everyone wondering is the Archangel character, which was eventually figured out by process of elimination. I won't spoil it, just that it's someone that was in your party in the first game.

My question is if they will have similar effects as in ME1, such as gaining more shields, a perma health regen, ability to unlock weapon skills and powers with character classes that wouldn't normally have them (biotic sniper was fun).

I'm pretty sure "Friend or Foe" pertains to a squad mate, since it's grouped with the other squad-related achievements and it makes sense given that there's going to be ten possible squad members. I don't want to state a name out of fear of revealing a possible spoiler, but anyone who's seen the "Enemies of Mass Effect 2" video should know who I'm referring to.

Nothing really surprising in the achievements, except that there is not ally achievements this time. I can't wait to 100% this game since I couldn't do the first one, fuck you liara.

replaced ally by loyalty.. so we just got to keep everybody happy...
Liara was easy, only do the citadel missions you have to to get out of the citadel, the get Liara, come back to the Citadel & do all the side quests with her on the team, then aim to to do everything in the game, with her permanently in the party.
