It was hinted at again and again... and again, until it was finally confirmed. Dead Space 2 is officially a thing that exists, and the sequel will land on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC at some point. Until then, EA's Visceral Games is in full-blown tease mode. Today's tidbit of Dead Space 2 info comes in the form of a Game Informer-exclusive "3D" screenshot.
The image features the game's hero, Isaac Clark, fighting off a horrific childlike necromorph. Well, to be honest, we assume the pair are fighting. For all we know the two characters could be moments away from a beautiful holiday embrace. (Mistletoe may or may not be involved.) Check out Game Informer's dedicated Dead Space 2 site to see the shot in all its interactive glory.

It's pretty neat but I remember a better 3d screen shot from marvel superheroes or something like that.

It looks like Isaacs suffering from a bit of athletes foot...

I'm pretty sure that Bioshock wasn't the first game to be set in a city...

There's no such thing as a planet with no gravity. That would defy the laws of physics.

Maybe i didnt make my point clear. The mood looks like bioshock "to me". (it seems by the image that they are in a bubble like city and i see pipes colored gold and purple, or why does he have the helmet on).
And i hated the idea of a city because i want my game named "dead SPACE" to be in space...or are they going to call it dead city or dead planet? or dead universe because its on the universe.
And if this happens in a city i just hope its not an open one (i know mario bros plays in a open city and other games but im talking about Dead space)
To me it will be weird to add gravity-less levels in a planet or city or whatever. Like in the last level where you go into a service tunnel...and there is no gravity. why? whats the use...in space it makes sense because the ship was damaged. but in a city?

A screenshot from a game that of which the release date is unknown and only announced a month or so ago.
Wonderful - why not tease us of the next Dean Koontz novel from just the first sentence?
This is obviously way early - tells me nothing of what to expect. This shot is about as compelling as a blank DVD.

I installed Microsoft Silverlight just to see that it isn't really a 3D look as you would expect. It is just a bunch of pictures of the same scene in a different angle.

Is it just me or is Isaac looking feminine? He's getting some curves on him, in the strangest areas.

Agreed.
The fade-in/out transition between the images is also very distracting. I'm sure the tech works better in other applications, but I'm not quite feeling this execution.

Those aren't 3D screenshots either, they're just video with the gameplay paused.

Mkay well then the InterStellar Marines Vault (site is down right now) is probably the only one I can think of, but then you could just say it's merely a slice of the game with static models.

Well... that was incredibly useless. I was expecting something like those awesome 3D screens from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, not a handful of jpegs cobbled together with annoying filters in between.
Now this is a real 3D screenshot (probably still a bunch of images strung together, but at least it's prettier):

I hope they step up the visual level of the sequel, considering the only thing in Dead Space that looked really good was Isaac. Environment wasn't very detailed and a lot of smooth/shiny textures were present.
